In 2012, the Initiative for Rural Innovation and Stewardship (IRIS) teamed up with the North Central Regional Library to conduct a photo-drive in search of historic photographs for the local history project “Foodways and Byways: The Story of Food in NCW.” Funded by a grant from the Washington State Library, the project resulted in a collection of photos from Grant, Ferry, Okanogan, Douglas and Chelan counties that illustrate food harvest, production, and distribution from the 1890s to the 1960s.
