Established in 2004, Sheridan Plumbing & Sewer, Inc has provided a wide range of services including excavation, sewer and water installation, hydro-excavation, potholing, structure cleaning, cleaning and televising of pipelines, by-pass pumping, as well as, commercial and industrial plumbing and sewer services.

Estimator / Project Manager

Mid-size Sewer & Water construction , plumbing, cleaning and televising of sewers seek a qualified Project Manager who has worked for a self-performing or specialty contractor, preferably within our industry. This person shall have estimating and direct construction management responsibilities. He or she will communicate directly with contractors/engineers/owners and prepare estimates, project status reports, schedules, change orders, submittals, safety plans and work to ensure the company adheres to contract specifications.

The position requires at least 5 years of experience in industry related work. This person shall be familiar with the construction means and methods within our industry, municipal procurement methods, practices and procedures. Leads and directs the work of others and is responsible for the sales, revenues and profits of their projects. This person will report directly to top management and will be given latitude to use their creativity, experience and knowledge to lead their team.

Attributes of this position are:

  • Estimating experience and the ability to prepare bid packages for private and municipal work. Ability to understand subcontract and contract legal language, plans and specifications that allows them to bid and build projects from start to finish.
  • Analytical skills to track project costs against estimated costs. Review vendor billing and prepare invoices to customers that include AIA documents and finalizing quantities with subcontractors/engineers/owners.
  • Contracting knowledge to prepare prequalification statements, change orders, project submittals, for bonding, insurance, schedules, materials, weekly time reports, safety plans, drug testing, accident reporting, etc.
  • Strong work ethic, integrity and not afraid to put in the hours to get the job done.
  • Organize and control activities associated with paying employees, vendors and subcontractors, as well as getting paid by Owners, Engineers or General Contractors.
  • Strong business acumen that understands what impacts revenue and profit.
  • Possess the ability to sell at high levels of organizations to drives the sales by using existing relationships as well as building relationships with new and existing customers.
  • Negotiation skills to procure work, recruit employees, subcontractors, materials and equipment.
  • Highly organized and plans their own tasks & direct reports, crew scheduling and equipment resources.
  • Identifies and engages all key stakeholders, contributors and business and technical resources that must participate in projects and ensures that contributors are motivated to complete assigned tasks within the parameters of the project plan.
  • Strong leadership presence with excellent internal and external communication skills.
  • Reasoning ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. This position requires someone with the ability to multi-task.
  • Develop project management systems to effectively manage people and projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Project.
