Job description

Headway is building a new mental healthcare system that everyone can access. We make it easy for people to find quality in-network mental health care by removing historic barriers faced by mental health providers, payers, and patients.

1 in 4 people in the US have a treatable mental health condition, but the vast majority do not get the care they need. The primary reason is cost: the majority of therapists do not accept insurance, meaning paying for therapy is prohibitively expensive for prospective patients. This is where we got our start – Headway has built the first software-enabled network of therapists who accept health insurance, making it easy for therapists to grow their practices, and possible for patients to find quality care they can afford.

We launched in April of 2019 and are now powering 300,000+ appointments per month. To scale our vision, we’ve raised over $100 million in funding from a16z, Thrive, Accel, and Google Ventures.

Join us, and make an impact

About The Role:

We’re hiring our first Corporate Communications & Content Lead to tell the story of Headway and grow our brand with key audiences. Reporting to our Head of Payer Marketing and Communications, you will shape our comms strategy and expand our reach via media, social channels, announcements, owned content, speaking opportunities, and more. We’re looking for a performance-driven leader with a proven capacity to build and execute against OKRs. This person must be a strategic yet tactical cross-functional collaborator. Moreover, the right candidate will be a phenomenal writer and messaging expert, with a keen ability to translate complex healthcare and technology concepts into accessible messages to distinct audiences. This is an exceptional opportunity to join the fastest growing mental health company in the country, leading ambitious portfolios and partnering with high-caliber teams.

You will…

  • Take a seat at the helm to build Headway’s PR & communications function, taking one of the fastest growing companies and building a brand of deep trust
  • Cast a vision on how to build a cohesive and strong brand across multiple audiences
  • Drive Headway’s corporate comms strategy through the development of our brand to key audiences (payer partners, health care / health tech industry, talent, customers and more) via organic channels
  • Own pen on press releases, pitches, messaging points, FAQs, announcement collateral (e.g. social), awards submissions and more
  • Develop well-written, effective content including blogs, thought leadership content (e.g. placed op-eds), reports and more
  • Own earned social media channels end-to-end, leading content creation and execution for corporate brand efforts across LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram
  • Be performance-obsessed, leading campaign recaps, and quantifying impact of earned media and social campaigns to achieve ambitious OKRs
  • Prepare Headway team members for media-facing opportunities, aligning on briefs for panels, talking points for interviews, FAQs, etc
  • Conceptualize and manage thought leadership and brand opportunities
  • Build deeply trusted relationships with colleagues across product, patient & provider marketing, clinical, business development, customer success, growth, CX, engineering, talent and more

You’d be a great fit if...

  • You have 5-8 years of experience leading corporate communications in high-growth, tech-enabled companies (preferably within the healthcare space)
  • You are an exceptional written and verbal communicator, with an ability to translate Headway’s value proposition and insights into compelling narratives
  • You’re gritty, results-oriented, and excited by owning ambitious comms projects at an early-stage startup
  • You’re tenacious, creative, and persistent when identifying new media opportunities

We believe a team's strength is in its people, and we cannot achieve this mission without a team that reflects the diversity of this problem - across race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, age, national origin, religion, family status, disability, military status, and experience.

Headway employees work remotely across the US, with the option to work from our NYC HQ.

Headway is committed to the full inclusion of all qualified individuals. As part of this commitment, Headway will ensure that persons with disabilities are provided with reasonable accommodations. If reasonable accommodation is needed to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and/or to receive other benefits and privileges of employment, please contact talent@findheadway.com.
