Overview:
Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Professional Land Surveyor to lead our Survey team in Southfield, MI! The hired candidate will be responsible for the professional, technical, management, marketing, administrative, and financial aspects of the Survey/Geospatial Department. This individual will also represent the firm as an expert in the Survey/Geospatial field. Responsible for managing the department to provide cost effective services to various department managers, project managers, and other employees in a manner which produces an adequate profit for the Company.

Our survey professionals have the expertise to achieve highly accurate results while maintaining quality control over data collected, from field to office, and precision of the final client deliverables. Whether the project calls for administering conventional surveying methods, cutting-edge geospatial scanning techniques or a combination of both, our professionally licensed land surveyors, highly-trained office technicians and field crews work seamlessly together to provide the most responsive and consistent professional survey services available. Implementing the right approach for each project is what makes the difference and ensures our clients they are receiving the most accurate surveying and measurement services.
Responsibilities:
  • Review and manage department operations to ensure the quality of the technical products
  • Establish effective long-range objectives, goals, and plans
  • Implement decisions made by the division director
  • Provide technical and management leadership
  • Develop marketing program for the department in conjunction with the division director and Marketing Department
  • Advise and assist professionals in other departments when expert knowledge is required
  • Manage activities so an adequate profit is earned on all projects handled by the department
  • Review monthly productivity and man-hour utilization-rates to determine how department can assist project managers, and other employees to achieve the contribution to profit and overhead required to meet or exceed profit goals
  • Prepare reports on department activities for division director
  • Act as spokesperson for the firm in matters requiring department expertise
  • Assign projects to department staff and schedule their work
  • Review time sheets of department staff
Qualifications:
  • Professional Surveyor License in Michigan is required
  • Continually learn and apply applicable standards, procedures, trends, technology, and criteria to successfully perform the functional responsibilities of the position
  • Possess and demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain internal and external relationships which support the success of the Company
  • Knowledgeable in best practices, trends, information, and other influences that affect Colliers Engineering & Design and the environment in which we work, to maintain our position as an industry leader
  • Possess and demonstrate the ability, skills, and initiative to exchange information effectively and efficiently
  • Possess and demonstrate the ability to lead effectively and efficiently, plan, organize and manage procedures, protocols and/or staff to achieve the desired results of specific projects and/or programs
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D is required
  • Demonstrate general computer skills and knowledge (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Aptitude to learn and apply technical skills and knowledge
