About the Position:

The Controller will direct financial activities for the company. This position is responsible and accountable for managing and coordinating the efforts of the Accounting Department. Candidates must be results oriented and able to plan, problem solve, train, delegate and achieve goals within established timelines. Successful candidates must have a full understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) along with a strong financial acumen while seeking opportunities to enhance effectiveness. They will work directly with the Chief Financial Officer on developing and maintaining policies, procedures, and accounting initiatives for the department.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise employees performing financial reporting, accounting, billing, collections, payroll, and budgeting duties.
  • Coordinate and direct the financial planning, budgeting, procurement, or investment activities for the company.
  • Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures by applying federal and state policies and directives and using current accounting standards.
  • Prepare or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, and/or reports.
  • Maintain and prepare work papers to support the general ledger
  • Provide direction and assistance to other departments regarding accounting and budgeting policies and procedures and efficient control and utilization of financial resources.
  • Monitor financial activities and details, such as cash flow and reserve levels, to ensure that all requirements are being met.
  • Coordinate audits of company accounts and financial transactions to ensure compliance.
  • Create and implement company policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Routinely review all processes creating and implementing efficiencies that will allow department and company to provide quality service to our customer, all while taking advantage of technological advances.
  • Utilize all the above items to build and maintain effective communication with other departments.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with our external and internal customers. Ensure requests are completed timely and accurately. Solicit feedback from others to ensure department and self are providing adequate service to all customers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience, Education, Skills & Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of recent senior-level accounting or finance manager experience
  • CPA preferred but not required.
  • Public accounting or dealership experience desired.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
