Position Description:

The Surgical Technician provides safe and effective care through the performance of specific duties as the surgical technician during surgical and other invasive procedures and is under the direction of a registered peri-operative nurse. The technician performs routine scrub duties as well as specifically delegated duties according to AORN standards and established departmental and hospital policies and procedures. The ST assists in the maintenance of an environment safe; for all. He/she also keeps current with operating room techniques, procedures, instruments, supplies, and equipment.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Graduate of an approved operating room technician program, preferred.

One (1) or more years' experience as an OR Technician preferred.

American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and certification.

Certification (CST) required.

Self-directed and independent achiever.
