Reporting to the President and CEO – Uniontown Hospital, the Vice President, Market Development and Ambulatory Services is responsible for development and implementation of strategic growth plans, annual operating plans, public relations/marketing programs, community outreach programming and internal/external communications serving as liaison with the hospital’s key stakeholder including community groups, other hospitals, physicians, and leadership. This position is responsible for the planning and coordination of service line growth in partnership with WVU Medicine Institutes and has oversite of operations of imaging services, laboratory services, wound, rehab and sleep centers, as well as operating rooms and cardiac catheterization laboratories associated with WVU Medicine – Uniontown Hospital.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Business or Healthcare Administration

2. Master’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration or related field

EXPERIENCE:

1. 3-5 years of management and/or administration experience required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

EXPERIENCE:

1. Experience in strategic planning, marketing, or business development role, as well as operational leadership experience that includes multiple operating departments in a geographically dispersed area.

2. Experience as a leader in a large a vertically integrated health system and finance system

1. Creates frameworks for strategic growth plans for the evolution of the system of care.Leads, engages in, and executes strategic initiatives in business development, physician services/alignment and service line development.

2. Develops a strategic plan for the market by linking strategies and objectives to the system and market priorities and organization plans.Develops a process to manage against the plan and to report progress to leadership.

3. Leads the initiative to build presence with Uniontown Hospital by identifying opportunities with System partners to strengthen clinical programs.

4. Leads the initiative to partner with other non-System stakeholders by evaluating potential partners, communities or other stakeholder groups to target for new and expanded relationships.Utilizes and maintains System tools for needs assessment.

5. Coordinates activities using an integrated approach within the health system, serving as a liaison to clinical and non-clinical divisions of WVU Medicine which could involve the co-management of services.

6. Assesses and assists with the development of disease-specific clinical networks in conjunction with Institute Leadership to promote outreach to hospitals and physicians to expand service reach to regional communities.

7. With VP, Finance, coordinates the capital budgeting process

8. Works with Finance to determine proformas, budgets and cost projections associated with growth and program development

9. Serves in a project management capacity for new service, growth and improvement initiatives

10. Develops and executes marketing plans and programs to ensure the profitable growth and expansion of the organizations’ products/services

11. Leads the organizations strategic business development efforts, including a planning process that promotes efficient and effective decision making

12. Secures competitive information on products and services in order to maintain and develop market share

13. Directs publicity releases consistent with public relations objectives and develops and maintains

14. Consults with members of management in order to maintain a consistent public image.

15. Represents the organization at major public events, as indicated.

16. Conducts industry and market research, analysis, and reporting activities relevant to the organization’s mission, philosophy and goals

17. Leads annual operating plan process, ongoing monitoring with oversight of the goal cascade process to the unit level.

18. Serves as a thought partner on the Executive Leadership Teams of the WVU Medicine – Uniontown Hospital and effective teammate to other executives.

19. Participates in activities which enhance professional growth and development.

20. Oversite of Community Health Needs Assessment and community benefit processes and plans

21. Direct management of community relations/marketing, volunteer services, concierge serves.

22. Leads in a liaison capacity all UHA affiliated services (i.e. oncology, heart and vascular, neurosciences).Leads as a liaison to patient access and registration.

23. Leads the operations of assigned departments of WVU Medicine – Uniontown Hospital (imaging, laboratory, wound, rehab and sleep centers, cardiac catheterization lab and operating rooms). The position is accountable to the achievement of growth and operational excellence of these departments measured by:employee engagement, patient experience, quality outcomes, growth plans, efficiency measures and overall financial success of these areas of responsibility.

24. Assures compliance to regulatory guidelines for all areas of responsibility

25. Maintains effective medical staff relationships in collaboration with CMO and quality nursing services in partnership with the Chief Nursing Officer for areas of responsibility, including the support and facilitation of a matrixed reporting relationship for nursing to the CNO.

26. Ability to assess the skills of others, invest appropriately in their development; specifically in leadership within the departments of responsibility.
