Job Title: Student Assistant/Peer Counselor


This is considered a position of trust. Students have access to confidential information and valuables.

Job Description: PFCP Student Assistant/Peer Financial Counseling Coordinator


Tasks and Responsibilities:

Ensure each co-worker, student/customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment, which includes greeting and acknowledging every student/customer, maintaining outstanding standards, and all other aspects of customer service.
Communicate effectively both written and oral.
Complete mandatory training on PFCP modules
Recruit PFCP counselors and volunteers
Schedule training for PFCP counselors
Schedule presentations and table rotations and secure locations for events
Create advertisements and announcements for PFCP
Requisition printed materials for PFCP
Conduct PFCP presentations
Assist in creating yearly budget for PFCP and monitor expenditures
Responsibilities will include filing/storing documents, mailing letters, making copies, and assisting staff with special projects; i.e. putting together binders, setting up files, etc. Fill/refill literature outside financial aid office area.
Retrieve items from drop box and distribute as appropriate.
Distribute incoming mail.
Operate and maintain letter-folding machine.
Maintain printer paper and supplies for office.
Shred documents and empty the shredder.
Move surplus and excess materials to the storage area.
Check supplies and inform PFCP Coordinator for needed supplies.
Stock materials in various areas.
Maintain orderly appearance of work area, supplies area, and storage area.
Any other tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications


Skills Required:

  • Experience with Microsoft word and Excel
  • Good listening and communication skills
  • Customer service oriented
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Display honesty and integrity
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
