JOB SUMMARY

The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining the general ledger accounts, invoicing, accounts receivable, fixed assets and performing bank reconciliations. The Staff Accountant manages the maintenance function.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Prepare invoices, record revenue, collect receivables and applying cash receipts.
  • Prepare general ledger entries with appropriate approvals and back-up documentation.
  • Record standard monthly journal entries including accruals for month-end close process.
  • Provides analysis of month-end close process for leadership.
  • Prepare daily cash balance report
  • Prepare weekly cash forecast.
  • Reconcile corporate bank accounts monthly.
  • Maintain the fixed asset detailed ledger, including gain and loss calculations. Record fixed asset transactions and depreciation monthly.
  • Perform general account analysis and reconciliations.
  • Work with external auditors to assist in annual audit process and preparation of the financial statements.
  • Manage maintenance requests for administration building and supportive living homes, to include scheduling repairs, ensuring contracts are in place and reviewing billing for services.
  • Audits monthly and annual HUD processes to ensure compliance with HUD standards.
  • Prepare annual HUD budget.
  • Participate in monthly DIDD billing review and reconciliation.
  • Responsible for lease management for all supportive living homes, including HUD, FFC, and private leases.
  • Prepare Ad Hoc requests and projects as needed.
  • Advocate for persons served
  • Other duties as assigned by management

This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

  • This position requires the employee to regularly talk or hear, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS


Education

  • Required: Associates in Accounting

OR 5 years accounting experience at a professional level in duties listed above

Experience

  • Preferred: 3+ years accounting experience with a non-profit agency
  • Health care billing and collections experience strongly preferred

Licenses/certifications

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Valid automobile insurance

Competencies

  • Proficiency in Blackbaud, Quickbooks, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel (Including Pivot tables & V-Lookup)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both in written and verbal communication
  • Ability to keep detailed records
  • Ability to make decisions in the best interest of persons’ served
  • Ability to learn new skills, including using computer programs
