Requirements:

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Handle freight shipment schedules, proper ship vias, printing orders, and the distribution to freight area leader for freight pickers.
  • Interfaces with other area leaders within the shipping department to verify all orders are assigned to appropriate areas.
  • Routes all freight orders with appropriate carriers, in vendor portals, etc.
  • Assist CET and Sales personnel with freight quoting, skid dimension, weights, Freight Call tags. Provides volume quotes and full truckload quotes and routings.
  • Works with Supervisor solving work problems along with troubleshooting and overcoming shipping issues. Anticipates and avoids potential issues where possible.
  • Continuously improves, develops, recommends measures to improve shipping methods.
  • Support the shipment of products or in the storage of products destined for sale to our distributors
  • Responsible for timely loading of picked/packed products
  • Must be able to operate an electronic scanner and follow existing standard operating procedures
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or
  • move up to 100 pounds
  • Must be able to work in shifts 8-10 hours long (longer if needed), where you are regularly required to stand, walk, and use basic sensory functions
  • Report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor as needed

Education and/or Experience

  • High school or GED; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
