Senior Systems Engineer
Job description
Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the full infrastructure life cycle including design, implementation and support. Work with team members in developing monitoring, security, and management of systems in support of strategic goals and efforts across the organization.
- Position allows for telecommuting/work from home (up to 5 days per week depending upon business need and leader approval). Candidate must be within driving distance of office located in Iowa City, IA.
Job Responsibilities:
- Fundamental understanding of networking, hypervisors, storage, Windows infrastructure, Office 365, and Azure environment
- Performs system administration functions for assigned applications, systems, or core components of on premise and cloud infrastructure
- Implements and responds to monitoring alerts for computing environments
- Collaborates with security team members to investigate security incidents and remediate security vulnerabilities
- Analyzes business requirements and recommends solutions
- Evaluates new technology and recommends directions for future environments & budget planning
- Performs systems upgrades and adheres to ITSM to document changes and update documentation
- Effectively communicate with multidisciplinary team
- Provides guidance and mentoring for interns, students, and other team members
- Participates in on-call rotation
Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in information systems or related field and 5+ years of relevant experience required; or equivalent experience of 10+ years of work experience will be considered
