Chemonics seeks a Senior Communications Specialist to join the dynamic team of the USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program-Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) project. GHSC-PSM is the primary vehicle through which USAID procures health commodities, provides technical assistance to improve partner countries' management of supply chains, and collaborates with key international stakeholders to support global health initiatives. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

GHSC-PSM is a multi-billion-dollar USAID-funded objective and the largest project in the agency's history. Supporting critical global health initiatives in HIV/AIDS, malaria, reproductive health, maternal and child health, and COVID-19, the project encompasses three primary objectives: global commodity procurement and logistics; systems strengthening to support in-country supply chain management; and collaboration via strategic engagement to improve the long-term global supply of health commodities.

The Senior Communications Specialist will support a dynamic and productive team focused on delivering health supplies to countries and health programs around the world, serving as a key content editor and creator, and manager of publications and event and conference collateral; while also supporting the KMC manager in strategy development and implementation, USAID brand oversight and product quality control, vendor management, and outreach and support to Country Program offices, including training and resource development.

The specialist has an eye for creative ways to generate written, graphic, and video content; a keen attention to editorial detail and branding oversight; and a strong sense of organization for managing technical and creative publications. The person in this position will have the opportunity to work with headquarters staff and KMC staff in countries around the world to elevate the work being done to support global health supply chains in a variety of settings.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage a communications strategy and products
  • Lead efforts to establish, maintain, and promote branding and quality standards for all written materials from GHSC-PSM, including writing, editing, style, format, design, and production.
  • Track ongoing projects to anticipate project and client communication priorities, opportunities, and needs.
  • Institutionalize high-quality project reporting, including defining and developing best practices.
  • Manage coordination, content development, and submission of project reports engaging with many contributors across headquarters and project offices.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including developing scopes of work for communications assignments in response to client priorities, project achievements, and strategic marketing opportunities.
  • Support the Digital Engagement Specialist in developing and implementing a project-wide online engagement strategy, including developing and disseminating social media toolkits and content and posting to the project website and social media channels.
  • Develop communications campaigns around key research and international days, such as World Malaria Day.
  • Edit conference materials, including abstracts and posters.
  • Coordinate with project leadership and country offices to identify stories and develop communications products.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of technically relevant work experience required.
  • Experience with USAID or similar donor-funded programs required, and knowledge of global health and development issues preferred.
  • Familiarity with AP and GPO style, USAID branding, and marking.
  • Ability to solve technical, managerial, or operational problems and evaluate options based on relevant information, resources, well-rounded experience, and knowledge.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and lead presentations, training courses, and effective meetings.
  • Experience with website and social media technologies and applications.
  • Strong MS Office, Google Suite, and Adobe Creative Cloud application knowledge.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and work prioritization skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility and integrity
