SUMMARY:

The Senior Accountant has the responsibility for the monthly preparation of the financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), as well as other periodic financial reports. The Senior Accountant also supports the Controller in processing the daily transactions including, but not limited to general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and grants management. The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining the schedule of restricted grants and managing the release of those grants as revenue. The Senior Accountant serves as backup to all other accounting staff positions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related area from an accredited university.

· Three years of Accounting experience.

· Two years of health care or nonprofit accounting experience preferably, in a federally qualified health center (FQHC).

· Thorough knowledge of accounting, budgeting, grants management and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

· Ability to analyze complex data, including fiscal and performance data, and communicate results effectively orally and in writing.

· Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and general ledger software systems, preferably MIP Fund Accounting

· Excellent Interpersonal and Communication Skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsible for ensuring the integrity of all financial data and reports generated by the accounting department, including but not limited to the reports & data presented to the CFO/CEO/Board of Directors.

2. Assists in monitoring all program, grant and contract budgets.

3. Supports the preparation of all financial reporting requirements including: annual financial statement audit, Medicare/Medicaid cost reports, grant reports, Form 990, the required data and finance reports for the Bureau of Primary Health Care and internal financial management reports.

4. Works with Billing Manager to provide claims payment information to the billing department and to resolve any issues related to claims payment.

5. Manages and advises in maintaining the general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, capital improvement plan, equipment replacement program, and all other accounting operations.

6. Is responsible for maintaining the schedule of fixed assets and completion of annual asset and supply inventories.

7. Ensures that journal entries, accounts payable, payroll, and accounts receivable entries are coded to the correct general ledger accounts.

8. Assists with payroll analysis, cost allocation, and benefits reporting.

9. Implements and monitors compliance with current accounting policies and procedures. Analyzes and develops alternatives for changing policies and procedures that promote efficiency, control, and quality in the accounting process.

10. Performs other duties as assigned by the Controller and/or CFO.

11. All Health Center staff members have emergency and disaster response responsibilities. Participates in all safety programs which may include assignment to an emergency response team.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $67,500.00 - $72,500.00 per year
