PURPOSE

Under direct supervision, operates mammography equipment to produce quality images of the breast anatomy for diagnostic purposes. Carries out all duties while maintaining compliance and confidentiality and promoting the mission and philosophy of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Under direct supervision performs medical imaging techniques for 2D and 3D mammography patients and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention by, or at the request of a licensed practitioner.
  • Provides appropriate patient protection following prescribed safety standards.
  • Under direct supervision ensures that all images obtained meet the positioning standards set by MQSA and ACR.
  • Ensures that images and records are properly completed with correct patient identification data and pertinent imaging information.
  • Under direct supervision responsible to complete required QC/QA tests as required by MSQA.
  • Maintains compliance with Texas Medical Board and American Registry of Radiologic Technologist education requirements.
  • Adheres to all company policies, including but not limited to, OSHA, HIPAA, compliance and Code of Conduct.
  • Regular and dependable attendance.
  • Follows the core competencies set forth by the Company, which are available for review on CMSweb.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform bone density and diagnostic X-ray procedures as needed.
  • Distributes and changes laundry, stocks mammography changing room and suite.
  • Maintains work area.
  • Attends required meeting and in-services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

Required: High school diploma or GED. Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved school.

Preferred: One (1) or more years of mammography experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of all rules and regulations established by the American College of Radiology, Federal Drug Administration, and the State of Texas.
  • Working knowledge of PACS image retrieval and storage
  • Ability to engage others, listen and adapt response to meet others’ needs.
  • Ability to align own actions with those of other team members committed to common goals.
  • Excellent computer and keyboarding skills, including familiarity with Windows.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to perform job duties in a professional manner at all times.
  • Ability to understand, recall, and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information.
  • Ability to organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology.
  • Ability to apply common sense in performing job.

Certificate/License

  • Current certification with Texas Medical Board and registration with ARRT.
  • Must obtain advanced certification in Mammography (M) with ARRT within 6 months of employment.
  • Current AHA approved Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card or within 60 days of hire required.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday from 7:45am-4:45pm or 7:30am-4:30pm
