The pay range listed above reflects the FULL pay range for this position. Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other Maricopa County employees within the same job classification.

This position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

About the Position
As the Community Services Program Specialist, you will provide an array of administrative, financial support related to the daily processing of emergency assistance payments to landlords and utility vendors. This position is essential for the accuracy and timeliness of payments, intended to prevent eviction or shut-off utilities for at-risk households. You will resolve complex errors, provide tracking of payment resolution, and be responsible for the compliance of all payments made.

We Require
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Three years professional office administrative experience
  • Post-secondary education may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
  • A valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire
  • Must secure a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety

Job Contributions
  • Assists in the preparation, processing, and reconciliation of vendor payments related to utility and rental assistance services
  • Contacts landlords to obtain tax documents and other information needed to ensure the timely delivery of rent payments
  • Manages funds expenditures for multi-funded direct service programs using complex database systems
  • Reviews program client applications to ensure compliance with complex federal and state eligibility requirements unique to specific funding sources
  • Interacts with subcontractor staff on a daily basis to resolve data entry errors and request missing case management documents
  • Provides customer service to internal and external stakeholders; resolves complex client complaints from the public and partner agencies effectively
  • Researches payment-related issues; compiles and analyzes payment errors/trends and provides recommendations to management
  • Creates, updates, and maintains complex spreadsheets and reports to track the resolution of payment-related errors
  • Sends checks along with backup payment reports, via U.S. Postal Certified Mail, to multiple utility vendors on a weekly basis
  • Interacts with vendors, clients, and finance staff to process rental late fees, research missing vendor payments, and coordinate the reissuing of checks
Working Conditions
  • Work takes place in a typical office environment
  • Requires travel to and from job-related locations during a scheduled workday, subject to County policies regarding the use of County vehicles or private vehicles used on County business
