Department Summary
UNT competes as a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Conference USA. North Texas’ athletic programs are classified as NCAA Division I, the largest and highest division among all colleges and universities. The 46,000 square-foot Athletic Center located off South Bonnie Brae Street is the centerpiece of North Texas athletics. Athletics strives to conduct a competitive athletics program that promotes faculty, staff, student and community affiliation and participation with the North Texas Athletics. Provide facilities which attract the highest level of talent and allow student-athletes to perform at the highest level in practice and during competition.

Serve as the tutorial coordinator (hire, train, and schedule tutors) & Assistant Learning Specialist

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in in related field and two years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.

Job Duties

o
  • Recruit, hire, train and evaluate tutors and academic coaches and develop tutoring schedules, and coordinate admin functions related to tutor payroll

o
  • Provide consistent and frequent communication, verbally and written, with academic staff and coaches regarding the progress of assigned student-athletes.

o
  • Work with academic counselors to review student athletes’ class scheduling, degree plans, tutorial services.

o
  • Conduct tutor trainings through out the semester to assist with the development of all tutors and academic coaches

o
  • Coordinate the evaluation of student-athlete success, tutors and academic coaches

o
  • Develop all tutor training materials and manual consistent with department and NCAA Rules and regulations

o
  • Assist the Learning Specialist with all communication regarding student athletes who have education-impacting disabilities

o
  • Work closely with the learning specialist to coordinate and implement individualized academic plans for designated student- athletes

o
  • Regular collaboration with the Learning Specialist to ensure the availability of testing and support services for student-athletes with education-impacting disabilities.

o
  • Assist with recruiting presentations when necessary
