Job Highlights:
Summit County Preschool, located in the beautiful mountain town of Frisco, is hiring a qualified Executive Director to lead our childcare center. As the Executive Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our preschool. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our program, including curriculum development, staff management, parent engagement, grant writing, and regulatory compliance. We are seeking a visionary leader who is passionate about early childhood education and possesses the skills to create a positive and enriching environment for our students, families, and staff.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in ECE, Business Administration or related field is highly preferred.
  • Experience: At least one year of center leadership/management experience is required. 2 or more years of center leadership/management experience is highly preferred. Non-profit experience preferred.
  • Certification: Have Director certification and/or EC 3.0 credential level 4 with intention to complete the OEC state required early childhood coursework within a year. Knowledge of state licensing rules and regulations. CPR and First Aid Certification or ability to complete within 60 days of hire.
  • Must complete required CDHS paperwork and TRAILS report before first day of employment.

About Summit County Preschool:
Summit County Preschool is a non-profit, private preschool located Frisco, CO. The Preschool is a 4-star Colorado Shines accredited facility that serves children ages 8 weeks to 5 years year-round with the mission of providing the best quality early education and care. With a total of 6 classrooms, we serve up to 70 children. Funding comes primarily from monthly tuition; however, the school also relies on support from state and local funding, grants, annual fundraisers and donations for operating funds.
Ideal Candidate:
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of National and State Education Standards and proven ability to maintain the school at a level exceeding these standards.
  • Strong knowledge of nonprofit governance structure (board), efficient leadership and staff structure, and ownership of organizational business decisions.
  • Proven leadership skills; models professional, positive attitude in leadership role
  • Strong communication skills and effective conflict management
  • Ability to establish effective staff structure to achieve organizational goals and meet organizational needs, with an eye for efficiencies.
  • Experience representing organizations in political and spokesperson roles.
  • Fundraising experience, including grants and grant reporting and community-based fundraising
  • Experience working with all Microsoft Office, Google, ADP and Quickbooks.
Job Summary:
The Executive Director oversees and manages the overall operations of Summit County Preschool. This individual is energetic, organized, flexible, and possesses communication and problem-solving skills. This individual must be passionate about early childhood education, understand federal, state and local licensing requirements and be excited about participating in the success of the school.
Job Responsibilities:
Teamwork:
  • Maintains a professional and cooperative manner with all staff members.
  • Promotes constructive communication and feedback.

  • Respects the organizational structure of the preschool.

  • Oversees and manages staffing and ratios to comply with the state
  • Assure coverage for lunch breaks if needed & assist with class substitution when needed

Staff Development:
  • Oversees hiring process for new staff, including orientation & training as well as terminations. Includes classroom teachers, maintenance personnel, contractors, etc.
  • Communicate Early Childhood standards, guidelines, and preschool policies to all staff.
  • Manages & develops staff, including the completion of performance appraisals, and supervises the development of individualized goals for staff professional growth and development.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations covering equal opportunity employment, minimum wages, etc.
  • Review and revised the Employee Handbook. Administer employee benefits in accordance with the handbook.
  • Develop & implement employee recognition efforts
  • Conduct monthly staff meetings and assign a rotation of lead teacher/administrative attendance and note-taking to be distributed to staff following meeting
  • Supervise opening/closing checklist duties and ensure janitorial or other staff coverage for duties

Child Relations:
  • Creates a warm, friendly, and accepting environment.
  • Promotes creativity, imagination, and laughter.
  • Speaks to the children at an age-appropriate level
  • Understands the developmental needs of children 8 weeks through five years.
  • Accepts each child as a unique individual.
  • Promotes the self –esteem of each child.
  • Attends to sick children and children with behavioral concerns positively in an age-appropriate manner.
Parent Relations:
  • Gives tours and explains programming
  • Demonstrates the ability to be considerate and tactful.
  • Maintains a professional and cooperative manner.
  • Review and revise the parent handbook and parent paperwork as needed.
  • Responsible to handle parental concerns beyond the normal scope of the classroom teacher.
  • Provides newsletter every other month and communicates as needed to keep parents informed of school happenings.
  • Keeps parents informed of local and SCP sponsored events.
  • Deals directly with issues of suspected abuse in accordance with social services and other enforcement agencies guidelines.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
Community Relations:
  • Maintain positive communication with parents, written and in person.
  • Prioritize town & county government relations to further childcare center, staff & family support and subsidies.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with Early Childhood Options (ECO)
  • Meets with Public Health nurse monthly.
  • Attend bimonthly Director meetings to maintain working relationships with other Center EDs
  • Ensure ongoing communication with Colorado Preschool Program (CPP), Head Start, CCAP, and other integral programs.

Board Relations:
  • Attend monthly board meetings and prepare a monthly Director Report; prepare agenda & board packet in coordination with board president.
  • Assist in recruiting & training new board members alongside the Secretary.
  • Participate in board succession planning.
  • Acts as a positive, informative liaison between board and staff.
  • Meet with the Board Chair monthly or as needed.
School/Facility Oversight:
  • Oversee daily operations of the school and its programs.
  • Oversee enrollment, waiting lists, child files, and attendance records with the administrative team.
  • Develop an annual school calendar & schedule.
  • Ensure website is kept up-to-date with job postings, current employees, blog posts, calendar, meal schedule, etc.
  • Oversee and maintain the facility, including necessary improvements, contracts for services, purchasing of equipment and supplies, etc.
  • Assist with housekeeping needs and general maintenance of the building
  • Oversee and guide safety needs, and develop emergency procedures.
  • Develop a capital improvement plan.

Financial:

  • Oversee financial health of the organization with a strong ability to work with Quickbooks. Verify income and expense records, create bank deposits, approve expenses. Submits all billing for monthly tuition including parents, CPP, CCCAP, Head Start, Town of Frisco and Community Tuition Program.
  • Develop & maintain annual budget & budget forecasts to achieve planned financial and enrollment targets; balances profitability with priorities related to staff and our children and families. Provides monthly updates to the board of directors on current financials.
  • Oversee tax payments, tax paperwork, year-end tax documents and tax exemption with bookkeeper.
  • Maintain board liability insurance, property liability, health/dental/vision insurance, workman's compensation & 401(k) contracts. Manage claims.
  • Develop strategic fundraising and marketing presentations for high-level sponsors/grantors, including state and local governments.
  • Seek and apply for grant funding. Manage all current grants and reports per grant schedule and requirements.
  • Coordinate community fundraisers
  • Work with the Board to develop annual fundraising plan.
  • Oversee and implement processes to ensure the maintenance of the donor database; tracking progress of pending and secured donations; maintaining relationships by issuing thank you notes and donation receipts following every fundraiser.

Administrative:
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation and state licensing requirements as well as all applicable state and federal laws, as well as preschool policies and procedures.
  • Interface with State of Colorado and local licensing entities.
  • Manage and approve payroll; maintain staffing records.
  • Handle records and requests from families in need of financial assistance; oversee scholarship decision process.
  • Support the board of directors’ annual survey reviews and address feedback as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned per the Board or the needs of the school.
