University of Minnesota Physicians seeks an experienced Cardiology Physician Assistant or APRN to join the University of Minnesota’s Heart & Vascular Service Line team in a working managerial role.
Practice Details:
  • This position provides Service Line/Domain leadership and management of over 60 APRN/PA staff within the Heart & Vascular Service Line including Cardiology, EP, ECMO, CV/CT Surgery, and Vascular Surgery specialty APPs.
  • The APP Manager has matrixed responsibility, primarily to the VP of APP Services, but also has dotted line relationships to the Service Line Executive and Physician Chief for the Service Line.
  • Role is critical as a dyad partner to the Service Line Directors and Medical Directors of specialty areas.
  • Duties include ensuring timely completion of schedules, coordinating with recruiting and on-boarding of new hires, supervising professional development, and conducting performance reviews.
  • The APP Manager is responsible for leadership and development within their area.
  • The APP Manager will lead efforts in workforce planning, developing effective models of care, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leading engagement.
  • APP Manager will maintain clinical practice as well, in accordance with assigned position including coordination and facilitation of the delivery of care to patients within a defined area of medicine as part of a team-based care framework. Performs patient interviews, physical examinations, diagnostics, and preventive health measures. Develop and manage treatment plans and prescribes medication, when appropriate. Make appropriate referrals for evaluation and/or treatment, as appropriate. Care can be provided in an inpatient and/or outpatient settings. May be required to be on-call.
Required Qualifications:
  • Certification from a nationally approved APRN certification body relevant to area of clinical practice OR Certification by the National Commission for the Certification of PAs (NCCPA)
  • Minnesota Registered Nurse (RN) AND Minnesota Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) or Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) or Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) licenses as approved by the Minnesota Board of Nursing OR Minnesota Licensed Physician Assistant as approved by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice.
  • Granted or eligible DEA Registration.
  • Meets threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileging.
  • At least 3 years of full-time experience in a related medical subspecialty area.
  • Excellent mentoring and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of coaching, staffing, performance evaluation, and scheduling.
  • Ability to engage and motivate professionals.
  • Demonstrated leadership, teaching, evaluation, communication skills, collaboration, organizational and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a clinical setting; superior decision-making skills; superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to critique, provide insight and develop creative solutions to practice changes which promote APP practice and productivity. Must effectively communicate with multidisciplinary team, directors and administrators regarding APP practice concerns.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's or Doctoral Degree
  • Advanced study in leadership and management
  • APRN or PA with 3 or more years of clinical supervisory/personnel management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to grow practice/retain team by training and coaching NP/PAs to provide exceptional patient care.
