Job Description


The Photometric Test Technician supports Current’s product development efforts as a member of the laboratory team. The team is responsible for the validation and setup of test samples, logging of test data, monitoring testing, troubleshooting tests and reporting completed test results. This position is part of a NVLAP accredited area and will perform testing in accordance with prescribed test protocols. This position also interacts with various engineering teams as the customer.

Essential Functions:

  • Set-up, calibrate and operate a variety of testing systems (mostly sphere and gonio photometry)
  • Evaluate samples to determine match with sample submission
  • Ensure test sample and accessories are correctly handled throughout testing and maintain the integrity of the testing process
  • Collect test data and ensure integrity of collected data
  • Compile test data into test reports when required
  • Interact with Test Request database
  • Ensure tests are performed in accordance with defined test method work instructions
  • Ensure that equipment is properly handled, stored, and maintained
  • Meet all Quality Management System requirements
  • Participate in area quality audits
  • Report any identified test sample quality issues to area test engineer prior to testing

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Participate in identifying and implementing continuous improvement projects
  • Support the upgrade of testing equipment
  • Follow all area safety rules
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices of all laboratory areas
  • Maintain instrumentation as needed

Competencies:

  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to follow verbal and written work instructions
  • Well-organized and excellent with details
  • Work well independently and as part of a team

Qualifications


Required

  • Associate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Photometric Engineering or in an Applied Science program (preferred with 2 years experience in a lab testing environment)
  • Competency in MS Word and Excel
  • Customer service interaction skills
  • General knowledge and experience using hand tools and power tools
  • Lifting up to 50 lb. for installation of test sample on test equipment

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Photometric Engineering or in an Applied Science program (no work experience is required)

Compensation

The position has a compensation package inclusive of base, bonus (if eligible), benefits, 401k contribution, time off, recognition awards and more. This hourly range is 18.27- 24.00.
