Pathologists' Assistant: Diagnostic Pathology Consultants

Description

Diagnostic Pathology Consultants is an established private pathology group affiliated with TMC HealthCare located at Tucson Medical Center located in Tucson Arizona. We are seeking both full-time and part-time, as well as per diem, Pathologists’ Assistants to join our group of 4-5 Pathologists. The successful applicant will be a graduate from an accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program, ASCP certified with minimum of 2 years of experience as a Pathologists’ Assistant. Our practice handles approximately 12-13,000 surgical specimens annually, the majority of which are large cases. The PA will independently perform dissection, processing, description, and histologic sampling of a wide range of specimens. The position has no autopsy responsibilities and no pathology residents or students.

DPC offers a highly competitive compensation package including 6 weeks PTO/CME and a sign-on bonus.

Qualifications

· Graduation from a program approved by the American Association of Pathologist's Assistant PA(ASCP)

· Certified as a Pathologist’s Assistant by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP-PA)

· Minimum 2 years of clinical experience as a Pathologists’ Assistant

Responsibilities

· Performs gross dissection of routine and complex surgical pathology specimens, selecting appropriate tissue to be submitted for histologic review, and dictate verbal reports describing the specimens

· Communicate clearly and openly

· Collects fresh tissue for special studies when necessary

· Instructs and advises personnel on pathology techniques and procedures

· Photographs specimens for documentation

· Selects and prepares gross tissue section for frozen section analysis

· Build relationships to promote a collaborative environment

Pay: From $105,000.00 per year
