HI Power Services Corp. (IPSC) has a career opportunity for an O&M Tech II - Electrician (IC&E) - $37 to $48/hr (negotiable based on experience) at our Rio Bravo Fresno Power Plant located just south of the City of Fresno. The facility is a 24.3 NMW biomass fired power plant.

Job Summary

The Electrical Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all instruments and electrical equipment in the power plant and the associated facilities. The Electrical Technician performs work of high skill in the inspection repair, testing, calibration, installation and removal of all electronic and electrical power plant equipment and systems.


Job Functions

  • Perform preventive maintenance duties on all major equipment and systems. Maintain complete equipment files, logs, and drawings for all designated equipment.
  • Forecast, inventory, and reorder spare parts to maintain plant reliability. Assist in physical inventories.
    Participate in the administrative maintenance of the plant operating manuals, technical references, prints and diagrams and preventive/predictive maintenance records.
  • Inspect repair, install and remove all types of motors, generators, transformers, switches, control equipment, wiring, electrical signal and communication systems, and storage batteries, and work with electrical systems up to and including 4160 volts.
  • Work with hazardous materials may be required.
  • Complete other tasks as requested by the Maintenance Manager.

Qualifications

  • Must successfully complete background check requirements.
  • Must possess and retain a valid driver's license.
  • Basic data entry/computer skills.
  • Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communications skills, and be proficient with the use of power and precision tools.
  • Ability to work well with others and be self-directed.

Education and Experience – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

  • High School Graduate
  • Graduation from an accredited Electrical Technician Program or two years of work experience as a technician in a related industry.
  • Experience in working with voltages up to 4160 volts highly desirable.

Schedule

  • Normal working hours: Monday through Friday 07:00 to 15:00.
  • Extended working days and hours are periodically required.
  • Overtime to complete job tasks periodically required.
  • On call status (day and night) is required.

  • Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communications skills, and be proficient with the use of power and precision tools.
  • Must be cooperative with those he/she contacts in this work and can work without direct supervision.
  • Must know the hazards involved and the safety precautions to be practiced in the operation and maintenance of power plant equipment and machinery.
  • Work within and insure strict adherence to all safety practices and procedures.
  • Must be able to respond to audio alarms and variations of sound.
  • Basic data entry/computer skills
  • Work as a team. Must be able to pool our knowledge and energy to work in tandem to completely understand and productively respond to all the business challenges.

Work Environment – Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

  • Protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, high voltage protective equipment and other equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties.
  • Work with hazardous materials may be required.
  • Requires working extended working hours, varied shifts or 12 hour shifts with weekend and holiday work as required by schedules, workload and plant conditions. On call status (day and night) may be required.
  • Includes working indoors and outdoors.
  • Includes working with high temperature liquid and high voltage equipment.

  • Physical requirements include: possibility of working on feet for extensive periods, requiring stair and ladder climbing; and routinely lifting 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to work in elevated areas, confined spaces and in extreme heat and cold conditions.
