Engine Design and Systems Integration Core Disciplines Engineering (EDSI CDE) and Transformation is looking for a Model-Based Enterprise (MBE) Chief Engineer to define and guide our digital engineering strategies for the Engineering Organization.

As digital techniques, customer requirements, and therefore MBE continues to evolve, this Chief Engineer will help to refine the roadmap, deploy capabilities at the speed of relevance, and to change our way of working to enable an integrated ecosystem. The selected candidate will serve as the Digital Engineering Strategist as a co-lead for the MBE Program Management office (PMO). The Chief Engineer will require proven communication and collaboration with cross-functional and cross-enterprise teams, including Engineering, Digital Technology, Value Stream Leaders, Finance, Operations, and others. The selected candidate will transform how the organization operates such that MBE is the norm, and every Engineer has the ability to pull for the capabilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the focal for the project execution of the Digital Engineering strategy in line with critical program objectives and Transformation.
  • Develop strategies to accelerate the development and deployment of MBE elements into selected engine programs in line with the agile framework.
  • Lead the execution of the MBE roadmap within Engineering.
  • Own and lead the Engineering-wide improvement target for MBE implementation.
  • Partner with internal (IPMTs to P1s) and external customers to align on capability performance, critical MVP definition, and future opportunities.
  • Represent P&W and EDSI as required both internally and externally with customers and suppliers.
  • Develop / enhance roadmaps for MBE, aligned with Program needs, with clear articulation of “lightning strike” opportunities, while collaborating across the enterprise with key stakeholders to ensure there is a clear and executable vision for outyears.
  • Establish updated Figures of Merit (FOMs), including recommended control tower metrics to ensure we are measuring critical elements of MBE across the organization and enterprise.
  • Work with the Fellows and Product Team Leads as well as other members of CDE and Transformation to develop impactful communication strategies, training, and opportunities for people to be part of pilot programs.
  • Leverage the Leadership Operating Model (LOM) to ensure the tactical execution of MBE delivers on commitments, leveraging the agile framework.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or in a related field and14+ years of prior relevant engineering and leadership experience leading systems engineering for complex project programs, OR
  • Advanced Degree in Engineering or in a related field and 12+ years of prior relevant engineering and leadership experience leading systems engineering for complex project programs.
  • US Citizenship status due to government program requirements.
  • Active US Government Security Clearance or ability to obtain a US Government Security Clearance.
  • Up to 20% travel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Engineering.
  • Working knowledge of industry standard MBE tools. Model Based Engineering knowledge and experience, including an understanding of modeling techniques and principles, and working knowledge of advanced modeling techniques including architectural analysis, design trades, and formal methods analysis.
  • Experience working in the agile framework.
  • Experience with the Military products and/or customer.
  • Experience in the role of a system architect.
  • Experience in requirements development, integration, and validation.
  • Highly motivated, able to communicate and work across organizational boundaries and have an exceptional customer focus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment, excellent interpersonal skills and proactive problem-solving abilities.
  • Creativity and alternative thinking to develop new or novel ideas to solve problems.
  • Strong customer and internal stakeholder relationship skill.
  • Dedicated and committed practitioner of the LOM.
