Position Purpose:

Support Factory Plant Production and R&D Engineering in a Manufacturing Engineering Capacity. A well-rounded, diverse candidate with a background in Industrial Engineering Lean Six Sigma practices, a background in heavy machinery manufacturing, a background in weld fixtures and tooling development, a background in evaluating and optimizing a product design for manufacturability, familiarity with steel fabrication and welding technologies and equipment, and proficiency in both 2D and 3D CAD are the preferred technical skillsets and experience being sought after in an ideal candidate.


A detail-oriented mindset, the ability to simultaneously self-manage multiple assignments with minimal oversight, strong documentation skills, always seeking opportunities to improve, and a positive mindset looking to provide constructive criticism for problem solving solutions are the preferred character traits being sought after in an ideal candidate.


Essential Functions:

  • Manufacturing Process development and sustainment
    • Work Instructions, Procedures, MP Sheets, Standard Operations Manuals
  • Lean Manufacturing Practices
    • Kanban, Poke-Yoke, JIT manufacturing, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Six Sigma
  • Industrial Engineering Practices
    • Safety Improvement, Quality Improvement, Time Studies, Line Balancing, Cost Reduction, Productivity, Throughput Capabilities
  • 3D and 2D CAD proficiency and knowledge of ASME drafting standards
  • Perform Employee Training
  • Participate in R&D Engineering Design Reviews and perform manufacturability studies
  • Manufacturing Equipment Management
    • Equipment recommendations, maintenance, optimization, troubleshooting, etc
  • Implement capital projects to achieve stated objectives while meeting cost and timeline
  • Facilitate and manage projects with vendors and sub-contractors
  • Assist in the implementation of safety, quality, ergonomic, and health programs

Software Requirements:

  • 3D CAD - Solidworks preferred
  • 2D CAD - AutoCAD or DraftSight preferred
  • PLM - TeamCenter preferred
  • ERP - QAD preferred
  • MS Office - Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project, Outlook

Education and Training

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in an engineering discipline is the minimum requirement.
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Weld Engineering is preferred

Qualifications

  • 0-4 years of professional experience in an engineering role – Manufacturing or R&D
  • Supervisory experience is a plus
  • Hands-on heavy-duty machinery equipment management experience in an industrial environment is a plus
  • Formal training or hands-on experience with Fanuc robotic systems, Allen Bradley PLC, arc welding, press brakes, plasma tables, and / or CNC machining is a strong positive
  • Solidworks CSWP certification is a strong positive
  • ASQ Green Belt or Black Belt certification are strong positives
  • Familiarity with IATF 16949 Automotive QMS Standard is a strong positive
  • Production experience is a strong positive
  • Should demonstrate excellent problem solving, decision-making, communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical Demands

  • Exposure to extreme heat and extreme cold while in the plant.
