This Product Controller role is a unique and critical mix of reporting, analytics and project management in an ever-changing regulatory environment. You will have visibility into various products across the bank as well as the unique opportunity to understand initiatives from a broad perspective. There is extensive partnership with colleagues within the various lines of businesses and corporate functions. Working in Home Lending will give you the opportunity to work in an area of the Firm that covers the spectrum of mortgage and home equity related asset classes and financial/banking products.

Home Lending (HL) is a line of business within Consumer and Community Banking (CCB) focused on originating and servicing consumer mortgages. In addition, HL retains a portfolio of ~$200B of mortgages and home equity lines of credit on its balance sheet as an asset. You will work within the CCB Finance organization to support senior leadership in actively managing and appropriately accounting for assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses associated with running the HL business. Further, HL controllers are responsible for ensuring the overall integrity and validity of HL financials and controls, communicating HL views of monthly and quarterly forecasts and actuals, annual budget forecasting and stress testing (CCAR/Risk Appetite). Working in Controllers is a unique and critical mix of reporting, analytics and project management in an ever-changing regulatory environment.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Managing two teams responsible for balance sheet/NII/credit forecasting, quarterly Current Expected Credit Loss (CECL) allowance evaluation for HL, and credit/TDR application and reporting. This will require setting the strategic priorities for the HL Portfolio Controller organization in line with both the HL Finance and HL Controller organizations.
  • Providing oversight and guidance of portfolio accounting, complex reporting requirements, and capital markets activities relating to the portfolio.
  • Partnering with other HL Controllers, Treasury, HL Planning & Analysis team, and HL CFO Teams to address senior management goals for business results, achieve efficient and complete forecasts, and provide meaningful value-add analysis.
  • Become the primary Portfolio liaison among CCB and Corporate groups across various topics including, but not limited to, held-for-investment (HFI) residential real estate loan accounting, CECL application, TDR identification, NII/yield analysis, and applicable reporting.
  • Support end-to-end reporting requirements for HL Portfolio organization within a strict SOX-compliant controls framework.
  • Identify and drive strategic and technology initiatives across all HL Portfolio Controller activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or other technical field
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in a related finance or controller function
  • Proven leader with strong work ethic and interpersonal skills, able to work well in a fast-paced, results-driven environment
  • Strong intellectual curiosity, analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills with a track record of execution against deliverables
  • Strong character, judgment, professional maturity, proactive-nature, and has the confidence to challenge the status quo while manage multiple deliverables simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and partnering skills, ability to interact with employees at all tenure levels and work with a team to accomplish common goals
  • Ability to attract, retain, and promote a diverse, inclusive, and talented team of financial professionals across experience levels
  • Control/efficiency mindset and drive to challenge, change, and adapt
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Hyperion Essbase, Tableau, and other data analysis / visualization platforms
  • Knowledge of retail banking and products
