Facilities Maintenance Technician - Chattanooga, TN / Plant 1
Hands on technician of a maintenance facilities crew; performing required or assigned task(s) to maximize, safety, quality, and efficiency of plant personnel and equipment.
- Maintain all facility equipment utilizing company and departmental policies. To include plumbing, pipe fitting, fabrication, High, medium, and low voltage systems.
- Maintain a situational awareness of the shop floor activities and anything that affects safety or production equipment.
- Assist in the development of maintenance personnel, systems, and programs through training and continuous improvement processes
- Support production; perform assigned work orders, and preventative maintenance, to maximize production efficiency.
- Ensure all maintenance processes are followed and documented in accordance with company and department procedures/policies.
- Effectively follow up on open issues and communicating to the supervisor or team leader any open issues not resolved during your shift.
- Proactive in preventative and predictive maintenance by identifying problems during either production or planned maintenance downtime.
- Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor or team leader.
- High School diploma or GED
- Master Electrician Certified in AL or 10 year experience as an electrician
- Proficient in welding, for pipe fitting, fabrication, structural steel, and general maintenance items
- Operate heavy equipment, (loader, man lift, back hoe, etc.) as needed.
- Strong mechanical skills to include overhead door repair and installation
- Strong electrical skill to install high, medium, and low voltage equipment in “hot” environment.
- Familiar with Alabama and National Electrical Code.
- Ability to isolate short circuits in long electrical run for medium and low voltage service.
- Ability to make, terminate, troubleshoot, network cables (cat 5, 6,)
- Carpentry, painting and maintenance skills for installing low voltage and network drops in office areas.
- Concrete Finishing after floor repair or equipment relocation.
- Ability to use all hand tools associate with electrical, pipe fitting, plumbing, and carpentry trades.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk and hear
- Employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds
- While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
