Job description

Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the New Hampshire SPCA’s campus - facilities, equipment, and grounds to enable staff to fulfill the NHSPCA mission. Ensures the organization is up to date on safety rules, regulations and daily operations are following state and local laws.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Works collaboratively within all levels of the organization and across departments to cultivate a positive culture and team approach to fulfilling the NHSPCA’s mission.
• Ensures preventative maintenance is carried out on a scheduled basis and complete maintenance records for all equipment are kept. Evaluates and recommends equipment replacement as needed.
• Provides custodial care in coordination with custodial maintenance staff including floors, windows, restrooms, rubbish removal.
• Monitors and manages mechanical systems including preventative maintenance contracts and inspections for HVAC, water, septic, fire suppression/detection systems.
• Obtains cost estimates for supplies, parts and outside vendor equipment repair as needed; ensures most cost-effective options are chosen.
• Assists with set up and break down for events.
• Ensures compliance with all applicable code requirements. Develops and employs standards regarding equipment use and safety protocols.
• Provides general carpentry as needed.
• Coordinate snow removal, lawn maintenance, garden upkeep and landscaping including contractor management.
• Regularly inspects property, buildings, and vehicles for areas of concern and provides recommendations as needed.
• Provides support and maintenance of agency vehicles as needed.
• Participates on the Safety Committee and contributes to policy development and oversight.
• Organize, train and supervise volunteers in support of projects related to maintenance of campus.
• Support programs and activities of NHSPCA as requested.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions involved with maintenance, repair and operation of buildings and grounds
• Experience in janitorial, building and grounds management
• OSHA training preferred
• Maintain a valid driver’s license, clean driving record and background check
• Able to work in team environment, communicating in an effective manner with staff and public
• Excellent time and project management skills and ability to prioritize projcts
• High degree of mobility required
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. frequently
• Flexibility to occasionally respond to off hours weather and other emergencies
• Occasional contact and handling of animals
• Potential exposure to hazards
• Work requires use of safety clothing and equipment and compliance with safety rules and procedures
