Starting rate is $16-$17.50/hr depending on experience. (Level I-III dependent upon experience & qualifications).

The Event Work Crew primarily assist in the setup and breakdown of Biltmore events such as weddings, concerts, exhibitions, corporate events etc. during peak event seasons to help create a world class experience for guests. Duties include, but are not limited to tent installation, equipment delivery and setup, loading and unloading trucks, and warehouse maintenance, and exhibition setup/strike/maintenance. Position may also assist the Support Services team in task involving Estate maintenance, furniture moving, and sign installation, and will provide general assistance and support to the department, leadership, and the company as required. Must work at least 100 hours/year.

Schedules are flexible and can vary, but are generally 6:30am-5pm; some evening shifts available

Status depends on current availability:

  • Full Time: a position averaging 35+ hours a week.
  • Reserve: a position working up to 20 hours per week (between 100-999 hours per year)

Essential Job Duties:

Level I

1. Tent Installation/breakdown.
2. Equipment setup and delivery such as tables, chairs, stage etc.
3. Loading and unloading trucks.
4. Warehouse maintenance such as organization, top cleaning and repairs.
5. Biltmore Exhibit Installation/Strike/Maintenance such as Biltmore Railways, Illumination, etc.
5. Take direction from Managers, Supervisors, Technicians, and support services staff.

Level II

1. Efficient and safe set up, maintenance, and break down of events equipment to include staging, seating, tents, sound equipment, lighting, etc. as required/assigned.
2. Maintenance and cleaning of restrooms and other locations related to events as assigned.
3. Provides support to Group Sales, Catering & Conference Services, Entertainment and Event Programming, et.al. related to event logistics.
4. General warehouse work such as organizing, loading/unloading trucks, cleaning and repairing equipment, etc.
5. Driving a company vehicle, able to complete smaller task and/or orders with minimal supervision.

Level III

1. Plan upcoming event needs with EL and/or SES Supervisor.
2. Maintain event inventory control (both delivered and returned).
3. Responsible for ensuring inventory is in good condition and available for rental. Must ensure all safety procedures are met.
4. Ensure the warehouse/shop is clean, safe, and organized.
5. Loading and Unloading orders each week. Completing Warehouse and vehicle checklist as required.
6. Estate Exhibition/Special Event Installation/Strike.
7. Basic knowledge of household/commercial power is preferred. Must follow safety procedures when working with power or lighting.

Requirements:

Level I

1. Previous event set-up/break-down and/or equipment experience preferred. Basic math skills a plus.
2. Demonstrated commitment to delivery of world class internal/external guest service.
3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to take direction/receive instruction as part of guest service team.
4. Strong organizational and time management skills; keen attention to detail with focus on quality and service.
5. Takes initiative, exercises good judgment; can prioritize work and adapt as needed.
6. Ability to represent Biltmore in a professional manner with guests and vendors at all times.

Level II

1. High school diploma preferred.
2. At least one (1) year of prior experience working with event set up and logistics preferred.
3. Demonstrated commitment to providing world class internal/external guest service.
4. Solid interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills; must be able to convey information clearly and concisely.
5. Excellent attention to detail with focus on quality and service.
6. Strong time management and organizational skills; can multi-task and adapt as required.
7. Ability to take direction and understand and execute instructions successfully.
8. Proactive, and exercises good judgment; can troubleshoot as needed.
9. Can operate effectively in an intense and dynamic guest service environment, and respond/interact with guests and vendors in a manner consistent with Biltmore standards.

Level III

1. High school diploma (or GED). Additional training preferred.
2. At least two (2) years of related experience. Ideal candidates will have relevant event experience.
3. Demonstrated commitment to providing world class internal/external guest service.
4. Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook. Basic math skills a must.
5. Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills; must be able to convey information clearly, concisely, and effectively.
6. Strong planning, organizational, and project/time management skills; prioritizes work and can adapt as needed. Keen attention to detail with focus on quality and service.
7. Proactive, takes initiative, and exercises good judgment; creatively problem solves and handles a variety of situations in a professional manner.
8. Can operate effectively in an intense and dynamic guest service environment.

Physical Requirements:

1. Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry 50 + lbs on regular basis.
2. Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
3. Must be able to deal with outside elements such as wind, rain, snow, and heat.

Level II & III

1. Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds on a regular basis with assistance.
2. Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time.
3. Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and/or scaffolding.
4. Ability to reach overhead, bend, squat/kneel.
5. Must have a valid driver's license and be at least 18 years of age.
