The Pacific Northwest’s premier steel fabricator, Thompson Metal Fab, Inc., is in immediate need of skilled and experienced Metal Fabricators. Serving the Civil, Hydro, Oil & Gas, and custom fabrication industries. We are an AISC, API, AWS, ASME, and WABO certified facility. With 85 years in the industry, we have a reputation of producing some of the highest quality fabrications on the West Coast.

Competitive wages start ranging between $18.60 and $35.42, with opportunity for advancement. All levels of experience will be considered for highly motivated individuals that take pride in their work ethic.

We have immediate openings for the following positions:

• Day and Swing shift FCAW and GMAW-MC CJP welders
• Day and Swing shift Fitters

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

**All employees must pass a pre-employment drug screen and pre-employment physical. **

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Set up or take down of a welding station.
• Sweeping and/or other general housekeeping.
• Collecting and emptying garbage bins.
• Collecting and relocating scrap materials.
• Collecting and organizing/sorting leads, extension cords, air hoses, etc…
• Aiding and/or assisting other production fabricator workers as assigned.
• Hole watch/ fire watch when required.

[REQUIRED] BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Basic reading and writing in standard English. Ability to perform a repetitive work according to set procedures, sequence, and pace
• 0-1 Years of experience relating to steel construction.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Knowledge of standard tools, materials, motions, and practices of the welding trade
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and effective safety precautions of the welding trade
• Experience with overhead cranes, forklifts, and arial work platforms
• Working knowledge of and competency in the use of precision measuring instruments
• Ability to rapidly change roles / responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to stand for extended periods – 8 hours minimum
• Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 25 lbs.) unassisted
• Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, working in cramped positions in small openings, and climbing hand over hand
• Ability to work at elevated heights
• Ability to work in extreme environments – exposure to heat and cold, similar to being out of doors
• Ability to work in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
• Day Shift (6:30am – 3:00pm) Monday – Friday with voluntary overtime available
• Night Shift (3:00pm – 1:30am) Monday – Thursday with voluntary overtime available

Salary: $18.60 to $23.54 /hour with shift differential
