Job Description

The Enrichment Center (EC) functions in a collaborative relationship with Residential Services and other departments to provide individualized active treatment programs to the people who live at Hazelwood. Community involvement and paid work is the goal of every resident of Hazelwood. The EC supports residents living inclusive lives in the community environment. All services are provided at the highest standard of professional practice, complying with standards by both federal and state regulations, facility policies and contractual goals and benchmarks.


Required Education and Experience

High School Diploma or Equivalent


Preferred Education and Experience

One year of experience working with persons with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities and/or mental health.


Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Must have a valid driver’s license.


Summary Detail

Enrichment Center Instructor provides active treatment programs to enhance the lives of the clients who reside at Hazelwood Center.

  • Format and implement client specific lesson plans.
  • Author long-term goals and objectives.
  • Planning client events, such as birthday Parties, holiday events and cooking classes.
  • Providing, scheduling, and attending community outings.
  • Attending Client Meetings and provide updates/ notes for Meeting minutes.
  • Transporting clients to community outings, employment, or volunteer opportunities.
  • Prepare In-services to teach staff on topics related to Enrichment Center Department.
  • Teaching skills to individuals with intellectual disabilities
  • Complete assessments ( Vocational, Pre-Vocational, and ITA) pertaining to the Enrichment Center Department.
  • Communicate/ coordinate with multiple departments regarding scheduling and activities.
  • Cleaning and Sanitizing EC area and materials.
  • Must have organization and time management skills.
  • Software knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and E-mail.


Essential Functions

  • Responsible, in designated role, for providing, directly or through contract, competitive/supported employment/work training for all Hazelwood residents.
  • Responsible for ensuring Hazelwood residents are given ample and sufficient supports and services necessary to ensure they can become an active member within the community which will assist with enhancing their lives.
  • Transport residents to/from community and work/work related activities.
  • Stay in contact with employer to make sure work is being completed to their specifications.
  • Complete all forms associated with the EC classroom.
  • Attend meetings related to residents in caseload or as instructed.
  • Provide guidance and instruction to residents and staff during trainings/activities in the EC and in the home.
  • Always know whereabouts of residents and ensure the appropriate supervision is provided to all residents.
  • Prepares reports/assessments and submits documentation by deadlines.
  • Maintains records on documentation related to services provided.
  • Develops and trains on learning objectives for the residents in assigned job/classes.
  • Participates in Special Olympics preparation, and resident training as needed.
  • Coordinates services with other departments as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Learn and follow all policies and procedures.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional flex hours, evening and/or weekend work may be required.


Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
