Motor Parts and Equipment Corporation is seeking an energetic and experienced Distribution Shift Lead Person to join our growing team. We are a family-owned company that currently operates 126 MPEC | NAPA Auto Parts stores in Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. This individual will assist the Assistant Distribution Center (DC) Manager and oversee the receiving, handling, picking, and packing activities within the DC located in Rockford, IL and ensure quality standards are met. You must achieve inventory accuracy, coordinate orders, and track shipping times, ultimately overseeing the fulfillment of millions of product orders every year.

Objectives of this Role

• Provide direction to the warehouse staff on daily duties.
• Assist with training of new hires and ongoing development.
• Work with HR to source and recruit candidates for openings.
• Works with the ADC Manager to establish goals.
• Review employee’s performance and provide feedback/coaching.
• Maintain a safe and clean DC environment.
• Efficiently sort, handle, load and unload palletized and non-palletized freight using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including pallet jack, forklift and by hand as needed.
• Utilize mobile hand-held devices for tracking shipments.
• Safely climb in and out of trailers.
• Lift freight and other objects of various shapes, sizes and weights (up to 50 lbs frequently and greater than 75 lbs occasionally).
• Safely walk and stand for extended periods of time on warehouse floor that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery.
• Safely walk, reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel as necessary to perform the job duties.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Ability to handle hazardous materials.
• Adhere to company safety policies.
• Frequent contact with service center personnel; fast-pace and deadline oriented.
• Safely work in adverse weather conditions.
• Prompt, daily attendance at assigned work location.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Educational and Experience Requirements

Skills and Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in logistics preferred.
• Experience working with ERP systems, work order, and/or warehouse management systems(Indigo/Epicor preferred).
• Minimum of one year Warehouse Lead experience.
• Proficient knowledge of warehouse procedures and policies.
• Demonstrated ability to work with people, knowledge of our product lines and number series for quick identification.
• Honest, dependable and not adverse to physical or mental labor.
• Must possess ambition, have a strong desire to lead and not resist challenges or opportunities.
• Excellent communication skills (written, and verbal).
• Bilingual(English, Spanish)
• Strong attention to details, highly organized, computer literate.
• Physical strength, stamina and the ability to walk or stand for long periods of time.
