Job Details:
Tift College of Education is seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor of Instructional Design and Technology beginning in Fall 2023. Minimal expectations for the position include teaching, research, student mentoring and advising, program leadership, and professional service. The position is a 9-month tenure-track appointment, with the opportunity for summer employment. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will develop and teach courses to prepare students for various instructional design and technology positions in K-12 and higher education, government, business, and non-profit entities. Teaching opportunities include instructional design, software development, multimedia design, learning analytics, vendor management, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, and online and accessible instructional design. The successful candidate will also maintain a defined line of research leading to publications in refereed journals, national and international presentations, and external funding and provide leadership for a new online master’s degree program in Instructional Design and Technology. Additionally, the successful candidate will participate in programmatic development and professional development activities linked to high-quality instruction and student success, advise and mentor master’s and doctoral students, engage in impactful service to professional and University communities, and contribute to an environment of professionalism and collaboration within the College.
Required Qualifications:
  • Earned doctorate in instructional design and technology, instructional technology, learning technologies design, or a related field from an accredited college or university by August 1, 2023
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching undergraduate or graduate students instructional design and technology courses delivered in-person, online, or blended formats
  • Strong potential for scholarly productivity and advancing a defined research agenda related to instructional design and technology with a desire to seek external funding
  • Willingness to engage in programmatic leadership
  • Superior interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of students and colleagues and support a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and equity
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience using learning theories, both pedagogical and andragogical, and instructional design principles and strategies to design and create courses and other learning experiences for education, business, or workplace training
  • Evidence of a defined line of research in instructional design and technology and scholarly productivity commensurate with time in the field, including peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations
  • Ability to mentor master’s and doctoral students, which may include serving and chairing thesis and dissertation committees
  • Experience providing programmatic leadership in instructional design and technology
  • Evidence of obtaining federal, state, or private grants or contracts and the ability to manage funded projects
  • Experience designing learning environments for a non-academic entity, such as a business, industry, corporation, or government agency
