Position Overview

The AMP Usher / Ticket Taker / Greeter is a Part-Time Seasonal position which runs from April to October. This position serves as a member of the Front of House Team facilitating and enriching patrons’ experiences by providing excellent customer service, assisting patrons with any questions or concerns that arise, and ensuring a sense of safety and security while attending our events. Most event hours begin between 4:30-5:00 PM and end by approximately 11:45 PM. Team members must be flexible to work weekdays and weekends. This is an outdoor venue where employees will be exposed to the outdoor elements including cold, heat, wind, and/or precipitation.


Principal Responsibilities
(Essential Functions)

  • Welcome patrons upon entrance
  • Check tickets and provide guidance to seats
  • Show patrons where to find exits, bathrooms, and concession stands
  • Ensure all patrons adhere to safety guidelines
  • Answer various patron questions
  • Handle suggestions & complaints politely & respectfully
  • Aid patrons with special needs
  • Provide excellent customer service to all patrons
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Represent Walton Arts Center / Walmart AMP at both on and off-site events, as requested.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with teammates, fellow staff members from other departments, vendors, patrons, and tenants of leased spaces
Requirements:


Usher

Employees must possess excellent communication skills, as well as a strong background in customer service to work as an Usher at the Walmart Amp

  • Ushers attend to guests and guide them to their assigned sections and/or seats before and during an event.
  • Ushers provide directions and information regarding facilities such as restrooms, medical room, concession areas, box office, smoking area, merchandise tents, etc.
  • Ushers greet people who are coming in and out of the venue with courtesy and kindness and are primarily assigned to the opening of aisles, assisting patrons to find seats in the venue
  • Ushers must be physically capable of standing for up to 6 hours on cement in an outdoor environment. This position includes walking up and down the General Admission lawn seating area, which is a steep grassy hill with cement walkways

Ticket Scanners/Front Gate

  • Employees are stationed at all entry gates with a hand-held ticket scanning device.
  • They are required to scan every ticket before allowing entrance to the facility
  • Ticket Scanners must attend equipment training sessions prior to assignment
  • Ticket Scanners may be re-assigned to other FOH positions after opening pressure at the gates subsides
  • Ticket Scanners are the second line of defense in preventing prohibited items from entering the venue and must be vigilant and focused

Venue Merchandise Staff

Venue Merchandise staff manage the AMP merchandise or add on sales which consist of lawn chair sales and distribution, earplugs, ponchos, and gift cards

  • Venue Merchandise Staff must have a thorough knowledge of AMP merchandise processes
  • Venue Merchandise Staff must be comfortable using technology (IPAD), credit card processing software and handling some cash transactions
  • Venue Merchandise Staff must be physically able to bend and lift lightweight folded chairs out of bins
  • Venue Merchandise Staff should be familiar with venue layout, policies and procedures to better assist patrons with questions regarding locations of restrooms, medical room, concession areas, box office, smoking area, artist merchandise tents, etc.
  • Venue Merchandise Staff will work their assigned location and close by 10:00. Once shift is done, the Staff Member will not be reassigned to another location

Education, Training, Traits

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to interact with many different types of people
  • Adept at problem-solving, including being able to identify issues and resolve problems in a calm and confident manner while providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to adhere to strict code of confidentiality
  • Customer service driven and an on-going desire to learn and improve
  • Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently
  • Certification in CPR, Trained Crowd Management, and Weather Safety encouraged
  • Flexibility with hours including early mornings, nights and weekends
  • Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced work environment
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently as well as with others to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a position focusing on face-to-face customer service
  • Previous experience working in an Amphitheatre, Arena or Stadium preferred
  • Track record of being a reliable team player


Physical

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly
  • Must have a working cell phone and be willing to install basic applications and be willing to use it for work purposes
  • Must be able to endure sitting or standing for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to endure standing or walking for extended periods of time on various surfaces such as concrete, grass, and inclined surfaces
  • Must be able to endure outdoor elements including cold, heat, wind, and/or precipitation
  • Must be able to work in large, crowded environments, with flashing lights, loud music and noises, pyrotechnics, and cannons as part of shows and events
