Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Valve Technician I, II, III, or Specialist located at Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownville, Nebraska. Position closes February 13, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time.

This position will report to the FIN Team Supervisor.

Position Summary

Perform valve and valve actuator preventative and corrective maintenance activities related to a nuclear power plant to support safe, efficient operation while minimizing down time and operation in a Limiting Condition Operation (LCO). Be available when required to ensure an adequate pool of manpower to correct plant problems.

This position may be assigned to a position within the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) that requires response to the station when an emergency is declared. Assignment to one of these positions and a condition of continued employment will be the ability to arrive at the station to perform ERO responsibilities within 45 minutes of notification of an emergency.

Education, Training and Experience

Two-year Associates Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent military training.

OR

High School diploma/GED and a minimum of 2 years of related experience in an industrial setting or successful completion of an apprentice program.

Nuclear experience highly preferred. Valve or valve actuator experience preferred.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Perform Preventative maintenance activities on station equipment to ensure its continuing availability, prolong service life, and reduce breakdowns.

Troubleshoot and perform corrective maintenance on station equipment to minimize both downtime and operation in an LCO.

Perform Quality Control (QC) activities as required by license basis requirements.

Support plant maintenance activities by performing rigging activities on non-safety related and safety related plant components.

Perform investigations of failures and deficiencies on plant equipment with engineers, department and shop supervisors, and vendors in order to correct problems and improve the reliability of station equipment.

Salary Information - Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth.

Valve Tech III non-exempt pay grade 10: $34.52/hour

Valve Tech II non-exempt pay grade 12: $40.75/hour

Valve Tech I non-exempt pay grade 13: $47.94/hour


Travel Required: Up to 25% (With no or minimal overnight stays, less than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska) Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.
