Role Overview

The Springboard Fellowship is a paid, two-year fellowship that brings recent college grads with raw talent, passion, and skills needed to reimagine and redesign Jewish student life to college campuses across North America.

Trained in Design Thinking methodology and other entrepreneurial frameworks, and exposed to the most successful initiatives from across the Hillel movement, Fellows will work with students to imagine, create, and refine experiences for 21st century Jewish life that dramatically impact student engagement, efficiently and strategically apply and scale successful initiatives from across the movement, and give birth to cutting-edge ideas that have the potential to transform how Hillel operates in its next century.

Extensive Jewish education is not necessary — just an interest in creating a vibrant Jewish community, a commitment to learning, and the desire to make a difference in the lives of students.

The Springboard Fellow at University of Illinois will focus their work on program logistics and empowering students through programming. They will provide support in the planning, promoting and logistics of Hillel programs and work with student groups to create an active and vibrant Jewish community on campus. The Fellow will work with the Assistant Director and other staff and students to identify gaps in the current programming visions. The SB Fellow will work with students, both those from the student leadership and uninvolved students, to plan one-off programs to fill those gaps.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Creates relationships with 180 individual students with limited involvement in Jewish life and refers students to resources.
  • Oversees daily implementation of Hillel programming process through maintaining Program List, program proposal documents, space and food requests, and shopping list
  • Identifies and engages students not represented by current Hillel programs
  • Empowers new students to get involved in programming on campus
  • Supervises Programming Administrative Intern
  • Works with the Springboard Fellow: Communications Manager, to organize Hillel's programmatic communication strategy
  • Give logistical support and participate in Holiday and Shabbat programming
  • Participates as a full member of The Hillels of Illinois Staff in local, regional and national Hillel programs and programs of the Jewish Federation as may be appropriate.
  • Directly supports JUF campaign integration on an ongoing basis in addition to mandatory campaign-related activities

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Bachelor's degree

  • A dynamic personality and outstanding interpersonal skills

  • High organizational and people skills.
  • Significant computer skills, including MS Office, Google Docs, CRM and social media.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends
