Maintenance Supervisor

Basic Function:

Supervise and coordinate all maintenance activities related to production and packaging equipment. Responsible for defining and analyzing production while implementing programs that will improve efficiencies, reduce costs, improve quality, reduce waste and improve customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the overall direction and coordination of production maintenance personnel on a daily basis in a 24/7 operating environment. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures. This includes interviewing, performance management, training, complaint resolution, team building and department morale.
  • Develop and manage an effective and well-documented preventive maintenance program to be executed with timeliness and precision.
  • Review production requirements with operations to establish an effective preventive maintenance schedule and determine priorities for all other production equipment repair/modification requirements.
  • Supervise and assist with repairs, maintenance and modifications to primary and secondary equipment.
  • Analyze production issues and investigate for root cause in order to recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Recommend and institute programs that will improve efficiencies and reduce costs while improving quality and customer service.
  • Ensure that all maintenance personnel and technicians are properly trained and aware of potential safety and/or health risks, including compliance with OSHA requirements and GMP standards.
  • Assist with annual budgeting for maintenance expenditures and compliance budgeted figures.
  • Follow and enforce product safety and packaging safety rules, procedures, and/or guidelines. Ensure our products are safe for intermediate and end users.
  • Perform other duties and tasks required.
Reporting Relationships:
This position reports directly to the Plant Engineering Manager. Incumbent will directly supervise hourly Maintenance personnel. Incumbent will also have a dotted-line report to the Production Manager for the area in question.
Experience:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Education and Experience: Associate’s degree in related technical field and five to seven years of relevant maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment. Additional technical or leadership experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Prior experience with plastic manufacturing equipment is strongly preferred.
Communication Skills: Strong written and oral communications skills required. Ability to write effective reports is required. Incumbent must possess strong interpersonal and presentation skills and be able to effectively communicate across various levels of the organization.
Technical Skills: Strong hands-on knowledge in plastic equipment maintenance strongly preferred. Incumbent must have the ability to read, write and interpret technical diagrams and procedures. Strong mathematical skills required.
Reason: Strong troubleshooting skills required. Incumbent must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
