Job Description
Position Description:
Looking for a self-motivated individual to act as the Trek Trails "Intern" who will perform regular trail maintenance, trail construction projects and property upkeep throughout Trek’s private trail system. Need full-time throughout the summer, June- August at minimum. Work will be based out of Waterloo, Wisconsin.
Position Responsibilities:
- Perform the duties of a trail builder, including reconstructive trail work, maintain additional trails/courses on trek HQ property.
- Lead employee volunteer workday Maintain tools and equipment. Logistical support for events on Trek property
Position Requirements:
- Experience with landscaping, basic carpentry
- Operating heavy machinery in a safe and efficient manner
- Must be able to perform physical labor for up to 8 hours per day.
- Knowledge of hand tool use and care
- Knowledge of power tool use and care
- Previous experience building sustainable mountain biking trails that follow IMBA’s guidelines
- Successful completion of motor vehicle background check
Bonus experience:
- Experience operating mini excavator, trail dozers, chainsaws, weed whackers, leaf blowers, and other power tools in the construction and maintenance of mountain bike specific trails. Experience constructing trail features such as bridges, log and rock crib walls, water bars, rock armored trail treads, in-sloped turns, jumps, drops and rollers, building all types of MTB trails (flow trails, beginner level rolling contour trails, expert jump trails, pump tracks, technical rock armored trails and CX courses) Chainsaw safety certification first aid certification & CPR.
