Join our Property Management team as the Transportation Supervisor. The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for the overall day-to-day supervision and operation of Willow Valley Community's Transportation Department to ensure that all daily transportation services for WVC's Residents are successfully executed in a safe, efficient, high quality, customer-focused, and cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Takes ownership of own personal safety; follows all established health, safety, and motor vehicle policies and procedures; promotes and insists the same for others.
  • Oversees and provides day-to-day supervision and direction to the Transportation Team.
  • Ensures that all Team Members have the necessary daily information, materials, and resources to perform their work.
  • Interacts with both Residents and Team Members in a helpful, friendly and courteous manner.
  • Listens to requests and concerns; responds to their needs and solves problems in a timely manner; seeks further input and direction as needed.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and implements solutions; assists the department Manager in setting and attaining department goals.
  • Meets and communicates regularly with Team Members; engages Team Members on job-related, personnel, and administrative issues.
  • Motivates Team Members to achieve and maintain a high level of performance.
  • Interviews, hires, coaches, disciplines and terminates; conducts annual performance appraisals.
  • Oversees resources and work schedules to ensure that Transportation services to Residents are delivered; creates, updates, and maintains organized and accurate work schedules.
  • Creates and maintains organized Transportation event schedules, calendars, brochures, and other documents.
  • Monitors the working condition/proper operation vehicles, supplies and equipment; makes purchases as necessary; reviews and approves invoices.
  • Manages vehicle registrations, records, leasing contracts, etc.
  • Monitors and evaluates fleet condition; schedules vehicles for annual inspections, maintenance, and service work; ensures that all vehicle registrations, inspections, recalls, etc. are completed on time as required by law.
  • Assists the Transportation Manager in monitoring the department’s capital and expense spending to adhere to approved budgets.
  • Meets with vendors to evaluate new vehicles i.e. requests bids, evaluates quotes, and makes recommendations for future vehicle leases/purchases.
  • Maintains accurate vehicle and transport records; analyzes data and makes recommendations based on factual data.
  • Establishes and maintains policies and procedures for the department.
  • Ensures compliance with all OSHA, DOT and other safety standards.
  • Ensures Team Member compliance with WVC policies and procedures.
  • Stays abreast of applicable federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
  • Maintains driver certification/re-certification records for all WVC approved drivers and assists with “on the road” testing of individuals.
  • Plans and schedules training for drivers such as Defensive Driver training, Safe Resident Handling, First Aid/CPR/AED training, etc.
  • Responsible for payroll/Kronos daily time and attendance approval.
  • Assists and helps coordinate transportation services during snow/emergency events.
  • Assist with daily transports as necessary.

Supervisory Responsible:

  • Directly supervises Team Members in the transportation Department.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, coaching, disciplining and terminating
  • Planning, scheduling, assigning, and directing drivers
  • Appraising performances
  • Compensation and rewarding
  • Addressing Resident and Team Member complaints and resolving problems

Qualifications:

  • 2-year certificate from college or technical school OR
  • 5 years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Transportation knowledge, safety awareness, organization skills, excellent planning and scheduling skills, communication skills and leadership skills.
  • A valid driver’s license IS REQUIRED for this position,
  • Must be energetic, self-motivated and flexible.
  • Must be a strong team player, demonstrate a willingness to work with others, be flexible, and assist others as needed.
  • Must have strong customer focus; be able to remain calm and composed during stressful situations.
  • Must be able to lead by example.
  • Must possess strong multi-tasking abilities.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and time management skills.
  • Must have excellent communication skills (e.g. verbal, non-verbal, written, listening, social interaction).
  • Must have sound judgement and decision-making ability.
  • Must have excellent computer skills e.g. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook, etc.) and adapt to using new software e.g. WorxHub Maintenance Management System software.
  • Be proficient in English (oral and written)
  • Adhere to all WVC personnel policies, including but not limited to, those covering Privacy and Security in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Must always follow safe work practices in accordance with the WVC’s Common Safety Pledge.
  • Must always treat others with respect and courtesy in accordance with the Pledge of Common Courtesy.
  • During times of severe weather or other emergencies, Team Members may be asked to work creative schedules to ensure that immediate and necessary functions and services are provided to our Residents, Team Members and/or visitors and guests. If the need arises, Team Members will be notified of such events as far in advance as possible.

Hours:

  • 40 hrs/week

Schedule:

  • 7:00am-4:00pm; Mon-Fri with flexibility due to events

  • From $28.00-$31.00/hr + based on experience
