Overview

SOSi is currently seeking a Transportation Manager to oversee the (IMD) Maintenance of Tactical/Non-Tactical vehicles/Equipment, (MCT) Movement Control Terminal, (TMP) Transportation Motor Pool and Retail Fuel and respond to any requests of Program leadership and perform any other duties as assigned by the Program leadership team. The Transportation Manager will report to the Director of Logistics and will be responsible for performing the work of entire contract matters relating to the daily base operations within this contract for facilities at Soto Cano Air Base, Honduras.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the supervision and management of all transportation and logistics activities required in the contract. Through their oversight people in this position
  • Ensure functions such as (1) the base motor pool, (2) management of the NTV training and licensing program, (3) management and maintenance of the NTV fleet IAW AR 58-1, (4) management and execution of transshipments between conveyances as necessary, (5) use of DoD/Army AIS to assist in management and visibility of transportation-related issues, and (6) establishment of staff liaison and sharing of data on container movement and retrograde of containers with the distribution management center (DMC) of the theater sustainment command.
  • Responsible for the management of the "Phase 0 through Phase V" logistical planning to ensure it is accomplished to support the Army mission.
  • Ensure staff performs logistical planning across all operational phases including planning, setting, operating, and restoring the theater.
  • Must be available within 2 hours to meet on the installation with Government personnel to discuss problem areas.

Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain/maintain DOD Public Trust.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience managing a Transportation program, OR a Bachelor's degree in transportation and logistics management from an accredited university with 3 years’ experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in military logistical planning and management at the operational command level.
  • Must possess strong management skills.
  • Knowledgeable about military logistics at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels and operational contract support and must be able to write documents that are clear and free from errors.
  • Ability to function in an office setting, answer the phone, use office equipment, etc.
  • Strong communication skills and capable of adjusting to the communication style appropriate for the audience.
  • Ability to listen and understand supported unit requirements.
  • Knowledgeable about and have experience with the military decision-making process.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish highly desired.
  • Previous work experience in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment as required.
  • Country visa (as required) in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide
  • Experience providing excellent customer service in supporting contract responsibilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules and under pressure of deadlines while maintaining performance standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master Mechanic Preferred.
    • Licenses/Certifications: Person with a Certified Professional Logistician (CPL) certificate issued by the International Society of Logistics (SOLE) and a Licensed Master Mechanic is preferred.

  • This position may be located in an environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions.
  • Employees must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this environment.
  • Employees must be willing and able to perform physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors.
  • This position requires skills such as walking, running, climbing, crawling, and jumping and other similar physical activities.
  • Employees must be able to endure extreme climate conditions and be able to work in an outdoor setting. This includes being able to lift and carry 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time and being capable of running and ‘duck & cover’ during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk.
