MBRDNA is headquartered in Silicon Valley, California, with key areas of Autonomous Driving, Advanced Interaction Design, Digital User Experience, Machine Learning, Customer Research, and Open Innovation. In Farmington Hills, Michigan, the focus is on Powertrain and eDrive technology as well as in Long Beach, where the teams test durability of the latest driver assistant and telematic systems. The Digital Hub in Seattle focusses on developing a cloud architecture and building out the cloud platform for the next generation of connected car services. The Testing and Regulatory Affairs Division in Ann Arbor and the Advanced Vehicle Design in Carlsbad complete the competence center.

Your role is recommending electrified powertrain technology for Mercedes-Benz vehicles and steering future innovation topics. You will discover and evaluate innovative electrified powertrain technology in areas such as eDrive, battery and cell, and charging through scouting, collaboration, and assessment. This includes completing market trend analysis and clearly summarizing technical and industry information from a variety of sources (publications, conferences, industry meetings, consortium, network, etc).

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for screening and identifying relevant innovative and enabling technologies for automotive electrified powertrains from universities, national labs, startups, and suppliers
  • Analyze intelligence, data, and information to create recommendations based on Mercedes-Benz roadmaps including relevance of technologies in the future
  • Scoping and executing specific innovation projects; managing external suppliers, startups, and universities when necessary; includes innovation validation at various TRLs
  • Frequently interact, network, and collaborate with internal and external organizations (supplier, academia, government, etc) including conferences, consortiums for acquire information
  • Collaborate within the MBRDNA US innovation area and worldwide teams in Germany
  • Responsible for repository of relevant information and periodic reporting of landscapes, trends, and insights to steer future activities
  • Ensures availability and dissemination of acquired knowledge to appropriate teams within US and Germany
  • Define and document innovation framework within the department

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field
  • Strong background in analytics and benchmarking
  • Experience with scouting and multi-partner projects
  • Proven capability to think systemically, strategically, analytically and executing decisively
  • Ability to integrate data/findings from other research to provide a holistic perspective
  • Understanding of automotive, tech, and luxury sectors
  • Both a specialist and a generalist with the ability to deep dive on certain aspects of research
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills and can engage audiences in various levels in the organization
  • Strong people skills and ability to influence strategy and decision-making
  • Takes initiative and is able to work with little or no supervision
  • Drives for results; The passion to set and meet high standards of performance
  • Drives for accountability; The ability to establish clear, measurable goals and deliver on commitments
  • Frequent use of speech, vision, hearing, use of hands for computer use and presentations
  • Frequent sitting, standing and reaching with hands

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS in technical related field (e.g. engineering)
The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on a wide range of factors, including, but not limited to, job-related education, skills, and experience, geographic location, and market conditions. The current salary range for this position is as follows and may be modified in the future: $99,100 - $124,000.
