    Job Title: Summer STEAM EL Teachers Grades 1-8

    Job Description: Morning-only teachers will report from 7:30am - 12:30pm and will teach STEAM concepts and literacy skills to a section of elementary or middle school-level students. Afternoon-only teachers will report from 11:30am - 3:30pm and will collaborate to plan and lead cabin time activities and serve as a mentor to the Program Facilitators. Full-day teachers will report from 7:30am - 3:30pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch and will carry out both the morning and afternoon roles and responsibilities. Positions are available at our Lincoln and FMS sites.


    Summer STEAM will run from June 12 through July 27, 2023, 7:30am-3:30pm, Monday - Thursday. On July 3 and 4, there will be no Summer STEAM and on July 5 and 6, we will offer optional light programming to our Summer STEAM students. There will be some required training dates for staff during the week of June 5, which will be communicated to all hired staff once details are finalized. Summer STEAM teachers will report to Lincoln or FMS and will be paid $34.31/hour. Additional paid opportunities will be available for teachers interested in curriculum writing, being a lead teacher during the afternoon, helping during the days of light programming and/or participating in family engagement events. Applicants who are available for the entirety of the program will be considered first.

    Duties/Responsibilities:
    • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities.
    • Create positive educational climate for students to learn.
    • Participate in ongoing training sessions.
    • Create lesson plans.
    • Utilize various curriculum resources.
    • Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.
    • Work with program coordinators to ensure initiatives are being met.
    • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
    • Prepare and distribute required reports.
    • Observe and evaluate student's performance with Continual Learning Plans.
    • Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures.
    • Participate in weekly PLC or other type of teacher meetings with the STEAM Team.


    Qualifications: EL teacher. Experience with leading programming, team building, staff collaboration, and effective communication. Experience teaching students grades 1-8. Strong background in reading and math. Experience in Targeted Services preferred.

    Licensure necessary for position: License by State of Minnesota in Education.
