Wage: $20-$23 per hour

Capacity: 40 hours/week

Job Description:

The Student Success Coordinator recruits, admits, and then develops and maintains an academic and institutional infrastructure that is conducive to the flourishing of students toward academic excellence, personal wellbeing, and missional success. Coordinates the college's student and support services for recruitment, admissions, enrollment, advising/counseling, learning services, and student life. Works under the supervision of the President and Chief Academic Officer.

General Duties:

  • This position is responsible for recruiting and onboarding future students and guiding all students with admission, registration, financial aid, classroom success, and degree completion to achieve graduation requirements.
  • Works directly with students to support procedures and solve problems related to admission, registration, financial aid, and payments.
  • Serves as liaison to the office in the offsite classrooms/online or distance education; to facilitate clear communication and problem resolution as they occur.
  • Formulate and implement student services’ strategic plans in alignment with the College's strategic directions. Annual Recruitment Plan and budget, Annual Retention plan and budget.
  • Supports CAO in coordinating student orientation, graduation and course scheduling.
  • Works with Financial Aid Coordinator to ensure students remain compliant with financial aid regulations as they relate to course of study under the direction of the Financial Aid

Coordinator.

  • Coordinates student leadership and events.
  • Effectively monitors and reports on key performance metrics and benchmarks. Educate college administration, the Board of Trustees, and staff members on current trends and best practices in recruitment, career development, retention, and safety.
  • Develop a social media strategy and execute in partnership with marketing. Regularly producing reports for President and Board review.
  • Prepares and submits all student enrollment data for various reports.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

1. Admission/recruitment:

  • Maintain open communication with all leads that encourages and empowers them to successfully meet all admission requirements through Populi, and offsite venues toward becoming enrolled students.
  • Follow admission requirements as updated each year in the catalog.
  • When appropriate, schedule and administer Wonderlic test.
  • Accept students and code them as students in Populi facilitating a matriculation agreement to be signed.
  • Develop and maintain understanding regulations, policies, applications, and exercising of Title IX procedures, FERPA guidelines, COVID-19 guidelines from Oregon Health

Authority and Higher Education Coordinating Commission, HECC.

2. Registration:

  • Maintain open communication with all currently enrolled and incoming students.
  • Facilitate matriculation agreements with each incoming student.
  • Advise student registration for classes according to the suggested course schedule.

3. Student/Classroom success:

  • Provide online support for student success. Provide training in Populi centered around student success, and how to make Populi work toward their benefit. (organizing, assignment submission, etc.)
  • Monitor students’ classroom success by running the grade reports periodically. Follow guidelines for assisting students before they get too far behind. Coordinate with faculty and

CAO to come up with a plan for each student to become more successful.

  • Assess students’ ability to have access to online classes and offer support in navigating each class.
  • Encourage use of library.

4. Degree completion: Proper monitoring and advising will lead all degree seeking students to graduate.

  • During week 10 of each spring semester perform a degree audit to identify next year’s graduates.
  • Guide students to submit their Graduation Petition in a timely manner, following procedures.
  • Coordinate retention that includes but is not limited to tutoring, assisting student with disabilities, and other efforts identified that interfere with student success.

  • Ability to follow directions and complete tasks accurately and accept supervisory input regarding what is going well and areas to grow in.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all student data and information.
  • Other Duties as assigned which are specific to the needs of the CAO and President.
  • May need to assist faculty with large class sizes.
  • Gather and report statistical data to CAO and regulatory bodies.

Education & Experience Required

  • Bachelor Degree in related discipline.
  • The preferable candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of work experience that is relative to the scope, functions, and responsibilities of this position including experience in an educational setting.

Skills & Knowledge Required

  • Experience working with adult learners.
  • Excellent oral presentation and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills include Microsoft Office, Outlook, and LMS systems and database software.
  • Team player with demonstrated customer services skills.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to exercise good decision-making skills.
  • Flexibility, especially when encouraging students to adhere to the COVID guidelines.
  • Self-Starter, able to work independently.
