Structural Engineer - Timber Frame
We are a growing structural engineering consulting firm and market leader in the design of mixed-use, multi-family residential, commercial, retail, residential, hospitality and industrial buildings. We are seeking qualified Structural Engineers with 2 to 5 years of experience in designing multi-story timber framed buildings. In this role, you will primarily be responsible for designing wood buildings up to 6 stories in height under the direct supervision of a Senior Structural Engineer. You will also have opportunities to design in other material types, including structural steel, concrete and masonry. Our projects are generally located in the Southeastern U.S., but we have completed projects in all geographic regions of the country. Some travel may be required. Responsibilities:
With the guidance of a Senior Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Preparing structural analysis/design
- Designing both gravity and lateral resisting systems of buildings
- Designing concrete foundations
- Preparing design calculations
- Assisting with the preparation of construction drawings
- Presenting analysis/design results to Senior Engineer
- Ensuring that design complies with building code and code-referenced standards
Qualifications and Skills: B.S. degree in Civil Engineering with Structural Emphasis (M.S. degree preferred)
- 2 to 5 years of experience in designing timber framed structures
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals
- Up-to-date knowledge of International Building Code, NDS, SDPWS, ACI-318 and AISC Manual of Steel Construction
- Experience using either RAM Structural Systems or RISA's suite of software products.
- Proficiency with written and verbal communication skills
- Ideal candidate will enjoy working in a team environment
