Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Steps-to-College Temporary Teaching Assistant on the Gainesville campus. Assist the teachers and program coordinators with day-to-day operations and in-class activities as directed. Supervise and mentor students both in class and during lunch, breaks, and recreational time; help with lessons; complete daily clerical tasks as directed; proctor Friday make-up days; and attend program fieldtrips to assist with supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day operations of the assigned classroom; help teacher and students with technical issues, supply delivery, and attendance as directed and assist with monitoring student behavior.
• Supervise students to and from buses, to classes and lunch, during designated program breaks, restroom breaks, around campus, and during program field trips and proctored Friday make-up days.
• Attend program meetings, including orientations and training sessions, prior to the start and during S2C program.
• Assist program coordinators and teachers with family/guardian communication during program (i.e., calling guardians if students are absent).

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Proficiency w/ word and excel processing.

Required Qualifications

• High school graduate required.
• Spanish fluency required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current UNG student preferred.
• Experience working with youth in out-of-school academic programs or out-of-school programming is preferred.
