Under the direction of the Principal Investigator and direct supervision of DDL Director of Operation, the Staff Research Associate II (SRA II) will synthesize new chemical entities and other compounds and perform various biological assays. These include: multi step chemical synthesis, purification and characterization of compounds, cell culture experiments using cell lines, primary cells and organotipic slides cultures, target identification, permeability assays both PAMPA and Caco-2, FRET assays and imaging-based assays. In addition, the SRA II will assist in the in vivo experiments in animal models of Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson’s disease, ALS, and Stroke, specifically in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics experiments, testing of novel compounds, drug administration, behavioral testing and assessing biomarkers using AlphaLISA/ELISA/Western Blot based assays. The SRA II will also record and maintain data using appropriate software, prepare drug libraries for screening in various assays, prepare drug formulation for in vivo testing, place orders for laboratory experiments and equipment and prepare illustrations and literature searches for publication. In addition, the SRA II will participate in lab and project meetings and effectively present research results. The SRA II will effectively operate and use the following equipment: AlphaLISA, fluoresence plate reader,pipettes, tabletop centrifuge, analytical balance, HPLC, MS, NMR, PCR machine, gel electrophoresis and computer-assisted imaging system. Pay Range: $27.09 - $43.58 Hourly

Qualifications

Required: * Over 2 year of experience performing Drug Discovery Lab assays * Over 2 year of experience running HPLC, MS, NMR and TLC * Over 2 year of experience in multi-step chemical synthesis using batch and flow chemistry * Ability to maintain clear and concise lab notes and data records * Over 2 year of experience running HPLC, MS, NMR and TLC * Experience working with cell lines and cell treatment * Assist in ICV injections, tissue and blood collection in AD and PD models * Ability to work independently, organize and prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively. * Oral and written communication to provide information, instructions, training and advice. * Ability to learn new software programs and laboratory techniques as needed. * Ability to work according to schedule and to coordinate work with other lab members Preferred: * Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. * Demonstrated proficiency in the use of PCs and Macs, particularly of word processing, graphics, photoshop, spreadsheet software, and ANOVA test.
