Job Summary

The position will provide tactical sales support for the Air and Gas Solutions sales channels, focused on the global compression portfolio with particular focus on the Petrochemical, Power Generation and Oil & Gas Industries. Incumbent will provide insides sales support through application guidance, competitive positioning, specification review, and special options pricing/delivery. Incumbent will have primary responsibility for tactical sales support to help drive dramatic growth via sale force/channel, and related technical knowledge enhancement activities.



Responsibilities:

  • Application Engineering:
    • Product Application: Provide support to the sales force in application/use of equipment through customer specification/requirements.
    • Provide timely, accurate, and complete replies to inquiries from Field Sales and Product Managers.
    • Understand contract requirements and convert them into company language in the order write-up.
    • Convert the contractual requirements into Engineering hours and level of complexity estimated to complete the contract.
    • Engineering Information: Assist in obtaining drawing, documentation, and test requirement or additional needs of customers for quotes, orders and shipped equipment.
    • Vertical Market Expertise: Understand the requirements of customers in our key vertical markets (Petrochemical, Power Generation and Oil & Gas Industries) to provide the sales channel clear direction for required scope of supply and product value positioning.
    • Specials Quote Management: Create and maintain database of specials quotes in order to improve quote accuracy and speed.
    • Scope Clarification and Communication: Develop and communicate project/product scope requirements for complex engineered jobs. Insure products supplied meet customer requirements.
    • Create proposals: Review specifications, create deviations and comments to specifications, obtain vendor quotes for outside purchase items, identify documents requirements for quote, and best in class proposal for engineered products including delivery and price of equipment.

  • Sales Support:
    • Technical Support: Provide product technical guidance aligning customer requirements and needs for sales force and potential customers. Act as technical resource to support sales efforts on complex engineered orders.
    • Competitive and Solutions Strategy: Develop competitive and solutions strategies in conjunction with the sales teams to position Ingersoll Rand industrial air solutions in an effort to capture orders. Advocate customers for product features and system solution design.
    • Special Options Quoting Support: Provide special product application quotation including, delivery, and price for equipment.
    • Order Entry and Booking: Support Customer Care and the sales force in insuring customer orders are properly entered and booked in our order entry systems
    • Customer Management: Participate in customer project kick off meetings and host customer during plant visits.


Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of experience in Application Engineering, Contract Engineering, Product Management and/or Sales, preferably in key markets (Petrochemical, Power Generation and Oil & Gas Industries).
  • Advanced Specification and Industry Code Knowledge (proficient in API 617, API 614, and ability to read customer specifications and develop purposeful comments and deviations).
  • PC proficient to include Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Bachelor’s Degree - Engineering (highly preferred).
  • Knowledgeable in Centrifugal Compressor Technology or other similar Rotating Equipment.
