We are looking for an organized and efficient culinary specialist with leadership potential who displays a high level of empowerment and attention to detail.

Kiros Catering began with Mike Mikhail’s love for food and passion for creating extraordinary events from timeless traditions. As the former Executive Chef & Food and Beverage Director at Starwood International Hotels, he went on to receive his master’s degree in hospitality from Cornell University. Soon after, the Mikhail family moved to California and opened a café in Ontario.

Mike’s journey in food has been inspired by the namesake of Kiros, Pope Cyril the Reformer, or “Father Kyrillos” IV. Following in his historical legacy, Kiros became a place for reimagining traditions through modern and elegant expressions. And after years of successful growth, Mike built his café into his dream, transforming Kiros into a full-service catering, fine dining, and special events company in Irvine, CA. Over the years, the once humble cafe has now earned a glowing reputation through elegant events centered on excellent service and the finest in food.

Kiros Catering specializes in full-service catering, fine dining, and special events spanning Orange County, Los Angeles, and the Inland Empire.

Overseeing the chain of food preparation work done by line cooks. Assist the head cook or chef in preparing dishes, and ensure that food health and safety regulations are followed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES =

  • Preparing meals and food to meet the specifications of guests in a timely manner.
  • Properly measuring kitchen ingredients and food portions.
  • Ensuring kitchen staff adhere to set standards, procedures, department rules and sanitation requirements.
  • Using kitchen knives and equipment such as grills, ovens, steamers and warmers in food preparation.
  • Managing the kitchen inventory and ensuring supplies are fresh and of high quality.
  • Ensuring proper food temperatures when cooking and proper storage afterward.
  • Keeping the workstation and kitchen equipment clean, organized and sanitized.
  • Taking charge of kitchen opening, closing, and other side duties as directed by the Executive Chef.
  • Speak with others using clear and professional language.
  • Support team to reach common goals.
  • Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by Catering Management.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to analyze food cost
  • Refined palate – ability to taste and smell for freshness and optimal flavor profile
  • Ability to comply to CDC Food Handling guidelines
  • Ability to communicate in English with a diverse team
  • Desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Comfortable with working multiple stations in the kitchen
  • Banquet experience
  • Italian/Mediterranean/French/High end Mexican Cuisine experience.
  • Appetizer cooking experience
  • Catering Skills

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of culinary experience
  • California Food Handlers Certification Required
  • Culinary degree preferred
