Amentum, in support of the National Weather Service's National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) located at Stennis Space Center (SSC) Mississippi, is currently seeking a Software Engineer II.

NDBC provides quality observations in the marine environment to support the understanding of and predictions to changes in weather, climate, oceans, and coasts. NDBC designs, engineers, fabricates/integrates, tests, deploys, maintains/repairs 4 worldwide buoy systems: 106 Weather Buoy Stations, 43 Coastal Observation (C-MAN) stations, 55 Tropical Atmosphere-Ocean Array (TAO) systems, and 39 Deep-Ocean Assessment and Reporting of Tsunami (DART) stations. Program scope also includes data collection/analysis/storage/dissemination (via satellite/website/other means) of related weather and environmental data from these systems (25%) and other sources (75%) of in-situ weather data.

Requirements:
  • Proficiency in C, C#, C++ or similar real-time deterministic language.
  • Proficiency with embedded Operating Systems, Assembly Language.
  • Proficiency with Microprocessors, Microcontrollers, Integrated Circuit Design.
  • Proficiency with Algorithm and Software Design Pattern development.
  • Proficiency with Wireless Communications Protocols.
  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance.
Education Requirements:
  • BS Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering
Qualifications:
  • 2 yrs. experience in development of real-time embedded systems software.
  • Experience in planning, requirements development, design, development of software test methods, testing and implementing, in accordance with industry standards, real-time data acquisition and control software for microprocessor-based data acquisition systems and offline support software.
  • Experience in C, C#, C++ real-time programming languages, development of Windows-based applications.
  • Experience using Texas Instrument and ARM family assembly language programming.
  • Knowledge of digital and analog software and firmware interfacing and developing software drivers for control of digital and analog hardware devices.
