Birchcrest Tree and Landscape, Inc. is looking for a year-round Small Engine Mechanic with a minimum of 1-2 years' experience in the tree care industry. Some weekends required.
Maintains equipment inventory and equipment maintenance records.
- Responsible for maintenance and repair of small engines, both gas and diesel, including hydraulic equipment.
- Responsible for sharpening all types of mowers or saws used in tree care.
- Assists in the maintenance, repair and operation of other medium and large equipment as needed
- Operates small equipment used in tree care and be available to use this equipment when needed.
- Performs preventative maintenance work, such as checking oil and fluid levels on all equipment.
- Maintains inventory records on repairs made, parts ordered, and parts inventory.
- Keeps vehicle records.
- Performs other duties as required.
Education and Experience
- Graduation from a standard high school and one (1) year’s work experience in the operation, repair and maintenance of small equipment, both diesel and gasoline type engines and hydraulic equipment. Preferred to include one (1) year of experience in the operation, maintenance, and sharpening of tree care equipment.
- Must possess a valid Driver's License.
- Must be willing to work some weekends and holidays.
- Thorough knowledge of tree care equipment, to include hydraulics, and small engine equipment, both gas and diesel.
- Working knowledge of safety practices and procedures while making mechanical repairs; knowledge of various tree care vehicles; working knowledge of tree care small equipment maintenance, repair and operations.
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment with accuracy and speed
- Ability to create effective working relationships with employees; ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to maintain written equipment maintenance records.
- Pickup truck; tree care and landscaping equipment, including tractors, mowers, chain saw, edgers, weed trimmers, electronic motors, pumps, blowers, spray systems; miscellaneous hand and power tools for tree care maintenance.
