Shipping/Receiving Supervisor (2nd shift)
Job description
Education, knowledge or skill requirements
Must have accredited degree or 5 years’ experience
Strong shipping and receiving experience including space utilization and barcoding
Excellent math aptitude with strong analytic and problem solving skills
Ability to pass the DLG material handler forklift aptitude and STA-Security Threat Assessment tests
Good working knowledge of the WMS-Warehouse Management Systems (i.e. c.core system)
Proficient in Microsoft applications – Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Summary of essential job functions
Supervise the Shipping/Receiving area so that maximum efficiency is achieved
Hire, train and develop Shipping/Receiving employees, including promoting teamwork, conducting timely and effective performance appraisals, coaching, counseling and mentoring employees, and administering appropriate disciplinary actions
Develop and implement timely and accurate shipping and receiving practices including appointment scheduling, staging in/out-bound load and labeling processes, suspect damage reporting, customer returned material process, BOL process, drop and hook process, FIFO FGI pulls, etc.
Monitor quality and accuracy of all inbound and outbound shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments
Maintain accurate and organized records
Responsible for ordering and maintaining inventory of departmental supplies and equipment, inspect equipment for defects and report needed repairs
Ensure that all forklift drivers have been (STA) Security Threat Assessment trained and that the shipping and receiving area is monitored and kept secure at all times
Ensure safe movement of freight, including chocked wheels and lock and seals applied when appropriate
Serve as a backup to the lead positions and forklift drivers when needed
Monitor departmental performance using Metrics and other appropriate methods
Ensure ISO documentation is being followed
Follow all handbook and safety guidelines
Abilities required
Willingness to work overtime with short notice
Ability to work in a fast paced environment
Excessive walking in the warehouse to monitor the safety and productivity of all team members
Must be able to lift 25 pounds at floor level and above shoulder height
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
