SUMMARY: Provides in-person bedside accompaniment to sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking survivors at Highland Hospital to improve coordination of multidisciplinary response systems. Provides in-person crisis intervention, follow-up services, and crisis counseling.


DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.


1. Responsible for providing in-person bedside accompaniment to sexual assault (SA), domestic violence (DV), and human trafficking (HT) survivors at Highland Hospital to advocate for survivors during the forensic examination.


2. Provides ongoing advocacy, in-person crisis intervention, crisis counseling, safety planning, and take appropriate action as needed case by case through a trauma-informed lens to survivors of SA, DV, and HT at Highland Hospital


3. Provides survivors with support, referrals, linkage, and information related to community resources, crime victim’s rights, victim of crime compensation information and applications, protective orders as appropriate and provide advocacy with third party agencies on behalf of a SA, DV, and HT survivors


4. Work with hospital staff, Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) Physician Assistant, Emergency Department (ED) Social Worker, law enforcement, and nurse to ensure the best possible care to survivors as needed. Works with treatment team to complete Domestic Violence Report and Referral as needed


5. Assist hospital staff in the ED with safe discharge and arrange transportation for sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking survivors


6. Provides consultation and education to team members regarding sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking.


7. Provide information and follow-up services after initial crisis intervention to promote recovery and healing to survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and human trafficking as required by the grant


8. Provides accompaniment for survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, or human trafficking to criminal justice, law enforcement, and other appropriate appointments, as needed


9. Maintains daily survivor documentation, program flow sheet, and fill out functional timesheet by deadlines and in compliance with the time allocations.


10. Document monthly success stories by the 3rd of each month.


11. Work directly with SARRT team to assist with administrative tasks as needed


12. Be on the rotating on-call schedule and serve as back-up as needed


13. Participate in training, orientation, and assessment of new staff as requested


14. Participate in outreach and education as requested


15. Participate in meetings as needed and other related tasks as assigned by program supervisor or program manager within the scope of AHS mission and values and program grants.


Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Required Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D


Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree related field (health, social science, nursing, or a related field such as psychology, counseling, social work)


Required Experience: Two years’ experience working with survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence; or the equivalent of one year of relevant full-time experience working in a DV/SA community-based organization program performing similar duties; Knowledge of violence towards individuals and children’s issues.


Preferred Experience: Knowledge of sensitivity to sexual assault and domestic violence issues, trauma, mental health, substance abuse, gender equity and/or other forms of oppression.


Required Licenses/Certifications: 65-hour Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Certification upon hire or within 6 months of employment
